Rams Historians: Build the All-Time "Pure Ram" Team

    Here's a challenge...

Let's build a roster of the All-Time best "Pure Rams" - players who played for the Rams and no other team.

I'll start with one on offense and defense... help round out the starting lineup (I'll ask that you nominate no more than 2 players at a time, so we can get participation from multiple posters).

    QB: Bob Waterfield
    RB: Dick Bass
    FB: Les Josephson
    WR: Jack Snow
    WR: Tom Fears
    WR: Elroy Hirsch
    TE: Terry Nelson
    OT: Charlie Cowan
    OT: Jackie Slater
    OG: Tom Mack
OG: Dennis Harrah or Joe Scibelli
    C: Rich Saul

    DE: Jack Youngblood
    DT: Merlin Olsen
DT: D'Marco Farr or Larry Brooks
DE: Lamar Lundy or Leonard Little
    OLB: Carl Ekern
    OLB: Mel Owens
    MLB: Les Richter
    CB: Pat Thomas
    CB: Clancy Williams
    S: Eddie Meador
    S: Nolan Cromwell

....and I'm going to go ahead and say it; the QB discussion might get a little interesting.

Actually, because of the "pure Ram" criteria, it's basically a no brainer.

    Bob Waterfield QB

    Jack Snow WR

Joe Scibelli, G. All Rams from 1961-75. 15 years, 202 games of iron-man, reliable, steady work.

Re: Rams Historians: Build the All-Time "Pure Ram" Team

    Eddie Meador was a S.

Pretty much going to be older guys the way the league is these days.

How about Dennis Harrah at OG. He took over for Scibelli.

Or guys that got cut short due to injury. Somebody will no doubt find a player of greater renown, but at DT D'Marco Farr was a beast for a few years for the Rams until he blew out his knee. Certainly one of my favorites.
    RamDez and bradwill like this.

    Correct. Eddie Meador played S.

And yes, D'Marco Farr was all Rams during 7 years, including the SB victory. Guard Dennis Harrah, all Rams as well, 13 straight seasons. You have a couple of great Rams here!

Re: Rams Historians: Build the All-Time "Pure Ram" Team

Elroy Hirsch played for the Chicago Rockets (which merged with the NFL) before he was a Ram.

Meador played S for all but one year, when he played CB, so I moved him to S.

We have a good controversy at the OG spot (Mack is in automatically, as he is a HOFer).

Also, at the DT spot next to Olsen, should it be Farr or Larry Brooks?
