He has more completions than Waterfield; a better completion percentage; a much better TD-Int. ratio, roughly 100 yards more per game, and an 18 point higher rating.

I know there's a lot of status given to nostalgia, and more than enough anti-Bradford sentiment to scream down this notion before it's even considered. And I'm not really wanting to drag that into this light-hearted thread; so I'm going to leave it at this. But I think it would be unfair to not at least consider the idea: Bradford has been a better QB than Waterfield.
I think you make some good points HUb, and I thought about the same things, especially since I think very highly of Bradford. But if we're looking at this moment in time, it's hard to argue against Waterfield, who led the Rams to their first NFL Championship, had his number retired by the Rams, and is in the HOF.

Very interesting view on QBs Waterfield / Bradford, HUbison! For one thing, I hope Bradford remains a Ram.

    Annnnnd gets better with experience.

Still need to scan our historic All-Time Rams QB.

I'll open that one up to the floor. If he's in, who do you bump?

How about Mel Owens at LB?

Almost by default, I second your nomination. What is it with the Rams and stability at TE??

I also think Carl Ekern is more than worthy. Crazy Legs should get a pass since the only NFL team he played for was the Rams. Reading through the thread I don't recall seeing Les Richter. I think he is definitely worth consideration.

I second Lamar Lundy for DE. Fearsome Foursome member has to be in.

Does it count against them if they played for the CFL? I want to nominate Dieter Brock. Errrrr....no, I don't actually. Bob Waterfield is the QB in this contest.

I added Hirsch as a third WR (utilizing the little known pre-merger exemption).

    We're almost there.

Still need a MLB, and I'm open to suggestions to bump players already listed.

I just realized... the MLB is a no-brainer: HOFer Les Richter!

Nostalgia wins the day, and that's fine. I just don't get that great feeling knowing our "pure Ram" (which is a really cool concept, btw) QB has 31 more interceptions than TDs and a career rating of 61.

But again, nostalgia has its place in something like this, and he's a HOFer and one of the best of his day.

    OT: Charlie Cowan
    OT: Jackie Slater
    OG: Tom Mack
OG: Dennis Harrah or Joe Scibelli
    C: Rich Saul

    DE: Jack Youngblood
    DT: Merlin Olsen
DT: D'Marco Farr or Larry Brooks
DE: Lamar Lundy or Leonard Little
My gosh! Look at those two lines!

    Question...

Would anyone bump either Mel Owens or Carl Ekern for George Andrews? (probably not, but I thought I'd mention his name)

Heh. Was about to object for Richter because I know he was traded to the Rams.

    BUT... LOL

Turns out yes, he was traded, but he never actually played for any other team. The New York Yanks drafted him, folded, his rights went to the Dallas Texans, who traded him to the Rams before he ever played a game.

    So nice find.

Interesting that the only "pure Ram" with a Super Bowl ring is D'Marco Farr.
