Rams Intend to Hire DB Coach Tim Walton for DC

I think it comes down to a relatively simple distinction. Jeff Fisher wants a DC who can implement his defense. He does not want a DC who would come in and try to design a new defense.

Given the Rams' success on defense last year (despite some fairly obvious holes in the personnel), I think that's the right approach. Find a new pilot who will stay the course, not plot a new one.

Agree and we don't have to worry about him looking to be a HC right away.

I'm pretty excited about this move, because safety play is gong to get way, way better, given his playing and coaching background, because he'll obviously have input (most?) into our safety selection, and because that was the weakest part of the Rams' D last year.

That, and (as AV previously stated) the fact that he comes in to implement Fisher's D and not to establish his own, (which he may eventually do somewhere else as a head coach).

The more I hear about Walton, the more I like. A recognized up-and-comer, ready to make his mark. The fact that Fisher has been after him in successive seasons is a great sign, and as Rambos noted, he probably won't be looking to go anywhere for a while. Plus, as a former member of the Lions coaching staff, maybe he can help with the Titus Young project.

I like this move, if it happens. Smart, young coach that will take Fisher's D and run with it.
