Rams interested in Bob Sanders?

Are the St. Louis Rams interested in Bob Sanders, the oft-injured safety dumped by the Colts this week? The Sporting News is citing "reports" that the Rams "could have" interest in Sanders. It's important to note that they don't link to any said "reports" or even use the timeless "sources" to reference it.


Sanders is strictly a value pick. Teams looking for a help on the cheap can take a chance on a guy with big talent but a penchant for injuries. Ok, maybe injury-prone is conjecture; he has played in 9 games since 2007. Not a bad get for a team like the Rams who could use some depth at safety. Not an answer per se.



While I understand the decision to release Oshiomogho Atogwe with an $8 million bonus coming, I wouldn't be comfortable with Sanders as his replacement. Not with his injury history. Bird in the hand and all that.

if he`s realistic and would accept the fact that he`s gonna get minimum salary and start out as say 5th choice safety going into the season, albeit with the chance to move up to 1st...then i`d be fine with us signing him.

LOL and this is exactly what I was talking about in the Draft/FA Bob Sanders thread about how these "reports" get misinterpreted/misrepresented. The quote was simply speculation of teams who could be interested in Sanders given their positional need. They don't use "sources" because it's not coming from any sources; it's just journalist speculation.

Bringing up Sanders as a potential replacement for Atogwe, even just to disagree with it, is a bit of a strange one as well, considering Sanders has spent his career at strong safety while Atogwe plays free safety.

You know, I was thinking the talent on our IR was getting thin this last year. Getting Sanders to fill that gap would do wonders for our ability to say "if only we were healthy"

If i had to sign a DB named Sanders, i would rather try and get Primetime out of retirement. At least he has more of a chance of making it through a 16 game season

I don't think that people really gave Colonel Sanders due credit for his toughness. I think his glasses detracted from his iron man image....well, that, and that silly little bow tie.

Put him in a Rams uniform and you will see that he his G double oh D good.

I think I will go build a chicken bone mobile and hang it from my rearview mirror in his honor.
