ONE-HITS AROUND TOWN
QUICK HITS.
MESSAGE FOR THE RAMS: Based on a quick poll of KTRS listeners, nine of 14 (64 percent) would support the addition of Tank Johnson.
Johnson, recently released by the Bears and suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season, is a pass-rushing force inside cognizant of "run responsibilities."
His athleticism for the position is impressive.
Johnson would be a natural spelling La'Roi Glover later this season before assuming full-time responsibilities in 2008.
Yes, the Rams have legitimate interest in Johnson. Yes, it unanimous within the Rams Park compound. Johnson is a perfect fit on the field.
Obviously, the question is whether the risk is worth the reward?
The Rams are one of a half-dozen teams contemplating making a move with Johnson.

I want this deal done.
I like Tank. I think he was cut prematurely.

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
As long as he agrees to store all of his guns in Linnehan's locker, and give up driving altogether, he might be worth a shot ...

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
I'd take him. The Rams have some really good locker room leadership; we'd benefit from his services, and I think he'd benefit from some better influences.

Tank might be worth a try, but forget the thug called Pacman if he becomes available.Tank might be ok in the right atmosphere, I think Pacman fouls the atmosphere of his 'posse' as much or more than anyone else in it.

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
i hope everyone is keeping in mind that johnson is looking at an 8 game suspension before the commissioner adds any penalty for the recent incident in arizona. Exactly who do you want to leave off the roster to sign him?
I hope that the people that want him arent the same people that wanted to dump jimmy kennedy to let the young guys develop, because adding him sure isnt going to help wroten develop. I also hope that no one who has been on the anti leonard little morals campaign is in favor of signing this guy, who is a repeat offender in multiple situations.
As for cutting prematurely, in business, behavior like that gets you fired a LOT faster than tank got waived, and i have no sympathy for him.
Would it be of some interest to me if he could play in week one? Probably. I am not a moralist on the issue of pro athletes. However, given that there is no way to know when he will even be eligible to play, let alone what kind of shape he will be in at that point, i am not so sure that we have much to gain. If its cheap enough, we may not have much to lose either.

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
I have no interest, and I hope the Rams pass. He has ability on the field, but is already facing an eight game suspension and was cited again with the law not too long after being released with a no tolerance policy from his team. Signing him with the intention of him becoming a starter in 08? I guess we don't have much faith at all in Wroten, according to Hadley?

When will people learn?
The Hadley Formula:
1. Make somewhat vague statement about possibile future event.
2. If event does not occur, never bring up again.
3. If event does occur, gloat about how you "scooped" everyone.

Oops....guess maybe the Bears shouldn't have jumped the gun.Johnson below limit in DUI arrest
GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) -- Tank Johnson's blood alcohol level was below the legal limit when the former Chicago Bears tackle was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving June 22.
Johnson's blood alcohol level was .072, under the presumptive limit in Arizona of .08 percent, police Sgt. Andrew Duncan said Monday. No charges have been filed pending results of a completed investigation.
Johnson, whose legal name is Terry Darnell Johnson, was arrested when officers pulled him over at 3:30 a.m. for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. Duncan said an officer placed him under arrest because he believed Johnson was under the influence of alcohol. He was released without being booked or charged after providing a blood sample, and police said he was very cooperative.
The 25-year-old player was released by the Bears three days after his arrest. The team said it was "upset and embarrassed" by the defensive tackle's legal troubles.
Johnson already had been suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season for violating probation on a gun charge. He spent two months in jail and was released in May.
Does this change anything for any of you?

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
it doesnt change anything for me. THe fact that he was under the legal limit doesnt mean that he is showing reasonable judgment by drinking and driving when he is already in deep trouble with his team and the commissioners office.
It may indeed prevent any additional suspension on top of the 8 games, but i still have great concern about what kind of shape he would be in by that time. I also happen to have very high hopes for wroten.
I think someone is going to pay him more money than we will.

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
I'm not sure this guy is really a huge character concern. He had a license for the guns and he wasn't legally drunk. I would have like to have him, but he wont be there for the first half of the season and there no point in that. In the first 8 games someone might become a star and tank will be wasted money. On the other hand some DT might completely suck and we will be so relived that tank was coming in.

Re: Rams interested in Tank?--Hadley
Tank is just too large to be walking the tightrope of expectations (a rather silly sight too).
Yes, big TJ would be "a good fit" with the Rams DT needs, these are still present...BUT...thanks to his a) off-field issues, likely to continue; b) e-i-g-h-t game suspension, count them, eight; and c) the Rams not being a Reform School for 2007, then, no, I'm not looking forward to adding him to our lineup this year.
Thanks but no, thanks. I think we can do better.
