The St. Louis Rams continue to line up head coaching candidates. Jay Glazer at Fox Sports is reporting today that they received permission to interview Aaron Kromer, the offensive line and running game coach for the New Orleans Saints. The interview is likely to take place in San Francisco where the Saints are playing the ***** this weekend in an NFC Divisional game.
Kromer's work the Saints speaks for itself. Darren Sproles breathed new life into his career with the Saints this season, racking up 1300+ yards from scrimmage and scoring nine touchdowns. The Saints have a rushing attack as intricate as their passing offense. They also have a very good offensive line, particularly in the middle. The weight of talent versus coaching plays heavily in the discussion of any assistant coach ready for a promotion. That's where the interview and the references come into play.
Kromer's been with New Orleans since 2008. He came over from Jon Gruden's staff in Tampa Bay, where he was a senior assistant and the offensive line coach for the last two of his three year stint there.
His background as an offensive line coach is interesting given the high priced struggles of the Rams starting five in 2011.

I love how these coordinators have a hot year (or at least the team they coach) and suddenly they're HC material.

Isn't that how they all get started? If you're going to find an assistant you may as well get one from a good team. Can't get experience until someone lets you.
