Rams to Interview Snead, DeCosta for GM job
Per Jim Thomas
The St. Louis Rams have received permission to interview Les Snead of Atlanta and Eric DeCosta of Baltimore for their vacant general manager position. Both have the title of director of playerpersonnelwith theircurrentteams.
Snead, 37, played at Auburn and began working in NFL player personnel in 1995 as a scout for Jacksonville. He has been with the Falcons since 1997, surviving several regime changes and four head coaches in the process.
DeCosta, 41, has been with the Ravens since 1996, their inaugural season in Baltimore. He was promoted to director of college scouting in 2003 and director of player personnel in 2009. Baltimore has had a reputation as one of the NFL's best-drafting teams for more than a decade.
A combination of Fisher and DeCosta I would fully support. The Ravens have had a few solid drafts since starting in Baltimore. Snead is an intriguing option as well. As far as Mckenzie goes, he's due to Interview with his former team, the Raiders, sometime soon.

Re: Rams to Interview Snead, DeCosta for GM job
Per Jason Canfora
The Rams have already talked with Brian Gaine, Miami's director of pro personal, about the vacant GM job.? Lake Dawson was another candidate mentioned, because of his ties to Jeff Fisher.

The Ravens have done an excellent job with the draft. More so on defense than offense, but even overall I'd put them up there among the top teams in identifying talent over the last decade. Very interesting.

DeCosta is my number one choice out of all options to be GM. The Ravens have had impressive drafts over the last decade. I would be okay with Snead too. I think if you bring in Fisher and pair him with a GM who used to be in charge of scouting or personnel, then you are in good shape.

Re: Rams to Interview Snead, DeCosta for GM job
A combo of DeCosta/Fisher would get me very, very excited.
However based on what I have been reading DeCosta won't go anywhere. The one thing I dont get about that is they call DeCosta the "eventual successor" to Newsome...Ozzie Newsome is only 55 years old. He should have quite a few years left in the biz, so DeCosta may begin getting puncy.

Re: Rams to Interview Snead, DeCosta for GM job
Rumors were that the Rams were interested in a young GM and a veteran coach. These names fit that. Atlanta has been pretty stocked with talent and obviously the Ravens are always stocked. Great choices either way in my opinion.
DeCosta is supposedly going to be interviewed by up to 4 teams for the GM job. We'll see. Last time the Ravens gave him a huge raise and increase in responsibility but they aren't likely to give him a timeline and force anything on Newsome.
