Hey, Greg Zuerlein! Got to add him to the list (post #1), he wasn't on it! This place kicker is one of the most promising in the league and, yes, maybe this year the youngster with jersey No. 4 does break the record for longest FG.

May not have the looks of a hard nosed football grunt but scores plenty points. Go for it GZ!

Remember Jerametrius Butler? 'We' drafted this jersey No. 23 player in the 5th round, 2001 and he was a Ram 'till 2006. Never did quite develop to full potential due to injury[?]; then he played with a few other teams, again, never to succeed with any of them for more than a year.

Re: RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part I - IV

    Circa 1946, a strong running back: 5 YPC x 5 years.

Here we have the famous (or it should at least be for Rams fans) milestone work created by Fred Gehrke, RB/DB for the L.A. Rams from 1946-49 -- also played in '40 and '45 with the Cleveland Rams -- namely, his great innovation of placing a team logo / design on the helmets, originally painted by hand on each helmet.

Story goes that after approval of Gherke's idea by head coach Bob Snyder and team owner Dan Reeves between 1947-48, the Rams artist was paid $1 for each helmet painted. In 1949 the Riddell company began producing plastic helmets and the Rams horns were integrated into the manufacturing process, first in the NFL.* Also, Gherke was one of the pioneers in designing a rudimentary face mask for football helmets after his nose was broken a couple of times in 1946.**

Pictured below is Fred Gehrke, center, flanked by End Jim Benton (49) & QB Bob Waterfield. CLASSIC! Helmets are early versions of hand painted horns, thus the creation and evolution of helmet logo designs for American football, college and pro alike.

Gehrke played w/ Rams jersey No. 18.

Another deeply historic moment and player in the NFL: Kenny Washington, a RB that was the 1st African American to make it to the pros in the Post War era. Known as "The NFL's Jackie Robinson".

Played with the Rams from 1946-48 averaging 6 yds per carry. He had jersey No. 13.

Before becoming a CBS sportscaster Irv Cross played DB for the Rams from 1966-68*, once returning an INT 60 yds for a score with the Rams D. I always liked IC for his professional demeanor. No. 27.

Billy Wade was a Rams QB for seven years (1954-60) before being traded to the Bears. Jersey No. 9.

Where is QB A. J. Feeley? Was signed by the Rams in 2011. Had No. 4.

Now a very amiable NFL commentator, Ron Jaworski played QB four years for the Rams, 1973-76 as they drafted him in the 2nd round (where does time go!), No 16. Jaws is now also a business man like many NFL players once they retire.

Initially a 3rd string back-up QB to Jaworski and Harris, Pat Haden eventually took over due to injuries to the starters. Haden played for the Rams from 1976-81 including the NFC West Division titles in 1977-78. Jersey No. 11.

Sometimes a star player is brought in from a team where much success was attained, but the star had already dimmed enough. QB Joe Namath, 1977 with Rams No. 12. Played six games.

Got to L.A. w/an empty tank, running on fumes, totally flat tires. Low battery.

Rams 2nd round Draft pick in 1998, RB Robert Holcombe performed well as a FB until 2001. Was part of the Rams blocking schemes all the way to SB XXIV. Also scored 10 TD rushing, two receiving. No. 25.

Thanks to Mike for the 'One Way to Measure the Rams Progress' by Mike Sando thread, we have WR Mike Sims-Walker at the mike here.

Mike: "Yes, I played four games with the Rams in 2011, started three; was wearing jersey No. 10. I'm telling you, that team is going places soon!"

Veteran RB Tommy Mason came to the Rams in 1967 and played four years with an excellent, powerful offense (most points scored in NFL & AFL, 398, in '67 [14 game season]). No. 20.
