Re: RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III - IV

Grrr, I just noticed that the title is misleading in terms of the four parts.

"RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III - IV", should instead read:

"RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III of IV" or, "...Part III / IV".

    Sorry.

Are you including pre-season games where the number is later changed to a different number?

    Jermelle Cudjo no 68

I asked him about it on Twitter:

Jermelle Cudjo ‏@JCudjo93 @Bears_81_WR I wear #68 my rookie year in the preseason games

No, only the regular season numbers. So yes, the correct jersey number should be 93 (see Part IV).

    Thanks Clive!

Rams have had three Youngbloods in their teams. Jim Youngblood here with No. 53 (1973-84).

    Ah, when London Fletcher was a R A M S linebacker (1998-01)! Memorable No. 59.

    -

Another good Rams LB with No. 59: Bob Brudzinski (played 1977-80).

    -

Yet another LB with No. 59: Mark Jerue, played for the Rams from 1983-89.

Big Wayne Gandy, OT, played for the Rams during some very tough times (1994-98); No. 70.

Must add G Harvey Dahl, No. 62! I hope we will keep him as part of the Rams improving OL.

With or without his mountain man beard, this is one mean, tough hombre...

DE Fred Stokes (1987-88; '93-95), he used No. 60 and, I believe, 65.

    -

Mark Messner, a LB that played only a few games in 1989 w/ No. 60. He is on the list!

D'Marco Farr, good man, good DT! Part of the SB XXXIV Champion team, he played his entire career of seven years (1994-00) with us.

Last player to wear Rams No. 75 before it was retired in honor of the legendary Deacon.

The H A C K S A W. Hard nose (truly tough) LB, No. 64. Rams MLB from 1970-80. Sure wish Jack Reynolds would have played all 15 NFL years of his career w/ the Rams!

Re: RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III - IV

Common practice back in the day - way back, early 60s and prior - was to have players working both sides of the scrimmage line during games ("vintage versatility"). Frank Fuller was one among many in the NFL that did just that and played OL and DT.

Fuller was with the Rams in 1953, '55, 57-58 (perhaps injured in the between years from all the pounding in the trenches)*; had jersey No. 71.

*.- Of course, the careers of NFL players were much shorter then and the decades before that. Limited sports medicine knowledge, primitive or no protective equipment including little protection from face masks (dentists were much busier), etc. Ouch.
