Guard Mike LaHood was drafted by the Rams in 1968 but due to military service did not play until '69, then from '71-72. Had jerseys 64 and 68.

Wearing No. 70 Mitch Johnson played OL backup for two seasons with the Rams, 1969-70.

'69 was the year the Rams went undefeated their first 11 games.

Re: RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III - IV

    Continued from previous post...

Just one of the many plays where Deacon's formidable ability and commitment to attack, bring down or slam the ball carrier is exemplified here. November 24, 1968 at the Coliseum -- Rams defeat NYG 24 to 21 that day BTW.

    Clic on image below...

Left DE Deacon Jones (No. 75) has shed his blocker(s) and made it all the way across the scrimmage line, just about to reach RB Tucker Frederickson (24) whose running to his left trying to avoid the Rams pursuit. Behind DJ is Rams right DE Greg Schumacher (81) and right DT Roger Brown (78). Also throwing himself in front of the ball carrier is Safety Eddie Meador (21).

That was Deacon. Fast, ferocious, fearsome. A unique warrior.

Remember Tommy Polley? Rams LB from 2001-04. Lanky arms helped block or INT passes. Wore No 52.

Had a great playoff game vs. Green Bay in Jan. 2002 when the Rams Dee had a field day pressuring Brett Favre, came away with SIX interceptions, three for TDs including one by TP.

Re: RAMS JERSEYS REMEMBERED, All-time: 2012 edition. Part III - IV

    Master Merlin.

DT Merlin Olsen played 15 straight seasons with the Rams (1962-76), 208 games.

A 1st round Draft selection by the Rams (3 overall), Olsen was Pro-Bowl 14 years, and 1st Team All-Pro several years. Formidable anchor of the renowned Fearsome. NFL HOF Class of 1982. His jersey No. 74 was retired (anyone know what year?). Died too early at 69.

Merlin Olsen was a coach's player. Punctual, steady, gifted, a quiet leader, a player you could always count on. He was a standout as a rookie and thereafter stood out in every game he played for the Rams in a 15-year career. Every game. Fifteen years.

As a rookie Olsen was voted into the Pro Bowl. And in the winters that followed they never played a Pro Bowl without him for 14 consecutive years. Ten times he was selected a first- or second-team All-Pro. Merlin came to the Rams as one of their two first round draft choices in 1962.

He had the physical qualifications of the best-ever defensive tackles of the day, as evidenced by the fact that he won the Outland Trophy as a collegian at Utah State. But Merlin’s true strength may have been the intelligence he used in each game.

During the off-season he earned a master’s degree in economics. It was Olsen's hard luck to perform for [some] mediocre teams in Los Angeles – he never won a Super Bowl – but he had as much to do as any other individual with glamorizing defensive football in the NFL.

Before the era of Olsen, and teammate and future Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones, this was an offensive league. Few fans talked knowledgeably about defense. Starting in the 1960s the Rams fielded one of the most famous of the front fours of that or any other time, the "Fearsome Foursome" of Jones, Olsen, Roosevelt Grier and Lamar Lundy. And the anchor and leader of the group was Olsen. He was the stabilizer in the middle that allowed the others to tee off on quarterbacks. Olsen kept order along the scrimmage line, often stopping the draw play himself or quickly identifying the screen pass.

Another starter for the 1951 Rams, NFL Champions, T Tom Dahms who played for 'us' from '51-54.

As mentioned in other players of that era, not too many had an NFL career beyond seven or 10 years. It was simply too brutal to survive that long, much due to limited protective equipment -- starting with the helmets! And medical technology of course.

TD had No. 71. Clic on image below...

Troubled by severe injuries early in his career, Mark Setterstrom was unable to be consistent as an OL with the Rams since he was drafted by them in 2007. Considered a promising rookie, he was on and off with the team until released at the end of 2009, again, due mainly to injury. Had No. 66.

Another player wearing No. 66 with the Rams was Bob Stein. Stein played LB in 1973-74 for a total of 27 games. We got him on the list!
