Rams led league in false starts last year - no effect on record?

According to statistics provided by the NFL, there were 725 false starts in 2006, down from 852 in 2005. The Redskins had 26. The St. Louis Rams led the league in false starts with 41. There does not appear to be a correlation between false starts and a team's record. Cleveland (4-12) had the fewest false starts, nine. Indianapolis (12-4 and the Super Bowl champions) had 23. -- Richmond Times-Dispatch

    Still, it's a drive killer. I'd rather have 3rd and 1 than a 3rd and 6 any day.

Yikes! What a dubious distinction. Maybe there's no correlation to false starts and a teams record, but there sure is a correlation to false starts and a lack of discipline IMO. This trend needs to end, starting tonight.

And Alex Barron accounted for 1/3 of those himself. :x

Let's hope we can start correcting that tonight.

Wow, Barron had more false starts by himself then the entire Browns team last year. Somebody should share that with him, it could be great motivation.

He kept it under control tonight for the limited time he was there. Only our backups had a few glitches.

Barron had a false start in a several games last season that either broke momentum on a drive, took us out of FG range, or forced us to settle for a FG instead of a TD.

In the SD game, his false start and Stephen Davis' fumble killed us in the third quarter and turned the tide of that game.

Divide those false start numbers by total offensive plays and you'll start seeing some correlation. It makes sense the Colts would have more than the Browns because they play a lot more offense.

Actually, Barron would probably stand out even more.. hmm oh well.
