    Oh....

It's a good signing though. I do feel better about the running backs in the short term of this season, and the reduced play reduces the chance he goes down due to injury.

With all the Eagles we have now, can we just fire/"promote" Shurmur and have the old Eagles run the offense directly? Seriously, this isn't a bad thing. Feely and Westbrook have to have picked up a thing or two about which plays are appropriate to call.
Oh i know they took Jackson off the field at weird times last season. I remember a 3rd and short where Gado came in for some reason. Westbrook would obviously be an upgrade there. But i still don't think you want to take the teams best player off the field in key situations like that!

If he is signed, its a win/win. Either he has enough left to be the second best back on the team, or one of the young'ns shows that he can be a diamond in the rough and beat out BW.

Just type in "westbrook" and "rams" on google and it sure looks like he's as good as here, lol.
Anyway, as Avenger said, either way this is a good signing. I would LOVE to see one of the younger backs step up and play so well that they look better than Westbrook, but if they don't... hey, we got Brian Westbrook!

Report: No decision yet from Brian Westbrook
Posted by Mike Florio on August 14, 2010 8:06 PM ET

For the second time in less than a week, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora is throwing a bucket of tepid water on a report from ESPN.

First, La Canfora disputed Adam Schefter's report that Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman definitely would sign his restricted free agency tender by the end of the weekend. La Canfora said no decision had been made, Merriman himself confirmed that . . . and then Merriman signed his tender by the start of the weekend.

Now, La Canfora takes issue with John Clayton's report that free-agent running back Brian Westbrook likely will sign with the Rams.

"Brian Westbrook hasn't made any decision yet and hasn't told any teams he has made up his mind according to several sources," La Canfora writes via Twitter.

So, if form holds, it's true that Westbrook hasn't made a decision -- and when he does he'll pick the Rams.

Either way, we'll be surprised if Westbrook, given his knee and his noggin, is on an opening-day roster. He may have a job by Week 2, when his salary won't be essentially guaranteed, but we still don't believe he'll have a job as of Week 1.

Rams: Deal for Westbrook not close

ST. LOUIS(AP) —The St. Louis Rams’ chief contract negotiator says a deal is not imminent with free-agent running back Brian Westbrook(notes).

Kevin Demoff, vice president of football operations, said before Saturday night’s preseason opener that he had not spoken to Westbrook’s agent for several days.

Demoff told The Associated Press there was nothing to a published report that Westbrook would sign with St. Louis on Monday, although he remained optimistic that the Rams remained in the running.

Westbrook has visited several teams, including the Redskins and Cowboys.

The Rams are looking for a backup behind Steven Jackson, who made his second Pro Bowl last season and is coming off back surgery.

I like the pickup and look forward to Mondays news. Maybe they can get him into our next game for a minute or two as well.
