ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Rams announced the signings of WR Mike Furrey, RB Arlen Harris, and LB Drew Wahlroos to contract extensions. The team also announced the signings of TE Mike Brake, WR Michael Coleman, RB Dusty McGrorty, QB Russ Michna, T Matt Morgan, and LB Tony Newson as reserve/futures.
Furrey, 6-0, 185, from Northern Iowa, will enter his third NFL season in 2005, after he ended the 2004 season with one reception for eight yards, eight kickoff returns for a 19.6-yard average, and 13 special teams tackles in the eight games he saw action in. In 2003, Furrey's first full NFL season, he made 20 receptions for 189 yards, returned 11 punts for a 10.8-yard average, and returned seven kickoffs for a 20.0-yard average.
Harris, 5-10, 212, from Virginia, will enter his third NFL season in 2005. He played in 14 games, starting one, in 2004, leading the team with 47 kickoff returns for a 20.2-yard average, adding 20 rushes for 63 yards and four receptions for 44 yards. Harris' rookie year of 2003 saw him play in all 16 games, starting two, with 255 yards on 85 carries and four touchdowns, adding 15 receptions for 102 yards, 51 kickoff returns for a 23.0-yard average, and seven punt returns for a 5.1-yard average.
Wahlroos, 6-3, 235, from Colorado, will enter his second NFL season in 2005 after he played in six games for the Rams in 2004, also spending eight weeks on the practice squad. Wahlroos finished his first full NFL season with seven special teams tackles after being signed to the Rams' active roster on Nov. 16.
Brake, 6-4, 256, was a rookie free agent from Akron last season and spent 15 weeks on the Rams' practice squad and one week on the Rams' active roster, being deactivated vs. New England 11/7, in 2004.
Coleman, 6-0, 190, from Widener, was on the Rams' practice squad each week in 2004, after spending 12 weeks on the Rams' practice squad in 2003.
McGrorty, 5-10, 218, was a rookie free agent from Southern Oregon last season and spent 15 weeks on the Rams' practice squad and one week on the Rams' active roster, playing on special teams at Miami 10/24, in 2004.
Michna, 6-1, 224, was a rookie free agent from Western Illinois last season and spent the first week of the 2004 season on the Rams' practice squad.
Morgan, 6-6, 304, was a rookie free agent from Pittsburgh last season and was on the Rams' practice squad each week in 2004.
Newson, 6-1, 247, from Utah State was on the Rams' active roster for five weeks in 2004, playing in three games, tallying one special teams tackle, while also spending 10 weeks on the Rams' practice squad.
