Rams move QB Berlin to practice squad

    By Jim Thomas
    ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
    Sunday, Sep. 02 2007

The Rams added quarterback Brock Berlin, plus at least three members of their
2007 draft class, to their practice squad Sunday.

Fifth-rounder Dustin Fry, a center; plus seventh-rounders Keith Jackson
(defensive tackle) and Derek Stanley (wide receiver) will be part of the
eight-man practice squad. Members of the practice squad work out with the team
during the week but cannot play in games.

The Rams kept only two quarterbacks on their active roster, Marc Bulger and Gus
Frerotte, so signing Berlin was a necessity to help the team get through
    practice during the week.

Meanwhile, free-agent defensive end Simeon Rice, who visited Rams Park on
Friday but left without a contract, is visiting Denver Sunday.

This is about what I expected and I can almost guarantee that Fry is on the roster before the end of the season.

As for Berlin he is a bum and should never end up under C.

Oh, absolutely. A valuable vacancy has been created in the famous 53 names list and it seems we'll be just fine for now having a very reliable Bulger / Frerrote tandem.

Funny how Coaches Linehan / Olsen have embraced the Bennett - Hagans possibilty at QB even though I'm sure they would immediately consider another veteran* in case the Rams Park alarm would sound.

But we should be fine with where we stand QB wise. After all, we do seem to have an improved OL and a better running game to take some pressure off the QB.

*. Can you say, Vinny Testaverde?

Fine by me. Hopefully Berlin can learn during the practices, and heck, maybe turn into a great backup for us.
