    Rams Own Second Toughest Scedule

You know at the beginning of an NFL season, one really doesn't know how tough a schedule is going to be.

Heck, the Rams looked at Houston and Atlanta in August as two of the tougher games.

Even with those two clubs collapsing in epic porportion, as of now, with 125 wins, the Rams opponents for the entire schedule have more wins that anyone but the Bucs opponents, who have 129.

Perhaps the Rams and Bucs are both caught up in the same anchor sitation, a really hard schedule in a league full of easy ones this year.

For Instance, Kansas City's opponents have just 96 wins this season, giving the Rams over a 25% harder go even before you play a game. That's the difference between an 8 win and a 10 win season.

What sucks is that the tough schedule hurts the Rams in draft position tiebreakers. However, I expect t hem to beat t hose Bucs and at 7-9 they won't tie a bunch of teams.

As of now, the Redskins opponents have 113 wins, so as of now, which will probably change it is so close, they would draft behind Jacksonville, and are tied with Oakland and just one ahead of Cleveland if the Redskins somehow win a game and tie those teams, along with Atlanta, who wil draft last among ties with their 124 opponnent win total.

I know part of the schedules are pre-determined in advance, but it really does seem like the Rams have had unbelievably brutal schedules the last few years. Whatever happened to your schedule being partially determined by your previous year's record??

All but two games are decided in advance. The only mystery is which are home/away and when. You play the two same-conference teams who finished in the same spot divisionally but are not in the division you play that coming year, ie The 2014 Rams play all the NFCE teams, iirc, and the 4th place team in the South(almost certainly The Vikes) and North(either TB or ATL) respectively, and all the teams in the AFCW.

If I have the rotation correct,The Rams opponents next year will be Dallas, WASH, Philly,NYG,Denver, KC, OAK, and San Diego ,plus the two NFC 4th placers and 6 division games.

Re: Rams Own Second Toughest Scedule

A team's Strength of Schedule (SoS) is often related to how many teams they have beat, or lost to. After all the talk of the RAMS cushy schedule in 1999, I actually created a modified SoS that removed a team's wins and losses from their SoS. I will have to try and figure out how I did that, and see what a difference it makes. IIRC, it didn't make a huge difference.

All of that said, a team that you have to respect is the Saints. They have 8th toughest SoS, but are 10-4. The next closest to them are the 49whiners (13th at 10-4) and the Donkeys (14th at 11-3).

The most off the charts is the Chiefs. They have a 17% easier schedule than the Bucs' toughest schedule.

I will post the SoS (so far) and potential draft order after tonight's game.

    Correctomundo!

The AFC West looks to be quite a challenge for us next season while the NFC East looks inconsistent at worst.

    My home/away projections

    NFC East
    DAL, NYG, @PHI, @WAS

    AFC West
    DEN, @KC, OAK, @SD

No way to know how next year's schedule will be. Who would have guessed at the start of the year that the Texans would be last in the NFL, while Carolina would be one of the toughest games on the schedule?

First chance to update my spreadsheet and post this. SoS is after this weeks games, and the potential draft order (if the season ended Monday) does not reflect trades, just were the teams would pick if they had their own pick in that round.
