'cuz every time Billy/Spags went looking for him to tell him the news he would scurry into a crack in the wall or something.
Smith, otoh, was much easier to find as he had a hard time crawling into such dark and dreary places.

BTW sources confirm that in the future Billy/Spags are going to hire Terminix to first find Roach and then escort him to the door.
