Rams ranked as least valuable NFL franchise by Forbes Magazine

Rams were valued today by Forbes at $930 million, dead last in the NFL. ESPN is not responding to any rumours that with the new valuation, the Dez Family Trust is considering buying out Kroenke and naming AV as our new GM.

There are many components to valuing any business, but when it comes to an NFL franchise, given the revenue sharing and TV situation, the local stadium deal is a critical component. Hard to see how the rams are less valuable than say the Jaguars, but its clear that the Rams ability to draw multi million dollar annual corporate tenants in the skyboxes is not going to be towards the top of the list compared to other cities.

The Jags did just do some improvements to their stadium. All I remember of the upgrades was they are the only stadium with a pool! Those stadium upgrades could be the reason they've surpassed us.

You need a nice stadium with high dollar boxes and the fan base to fill them. Also not going to climb these rankings if your fan base doesn't buy tickets to the games or buy merchandise. This ranking shouldn't shock anybody that's looked at these numbers.

Just read the headline to this post and literally said aloud at work, "awwwww...." Then had a sad face.
That didn't cheer me up at all.

Well... considering that the Los Angeles Clippers, who share an arena with the Lakers, just sold for $2B...

Completely depends on the stadium and where the stadium is. But you could realistically increase the value but at least 50%.

Nothing a playoff run or two won't fix, imo, and they could start by showing well in whatever national TV games they play this year.. I'm no Buffett but isn't the TV money what The Rams need? There haven't been too many blackouts since Kroenke took over, iirc, and the general deal The Rams have gives them virtually every penny so not sure The EDJ is the issue, dated though it clearly is.

I have read that just a move by the Rams to LA would instantly put them in the top tier of the NFL in terms of worth. But that's what we've (those in favor of a move back to LA) have said all along... It would be a financial boom to the Rams and the owner to move to LA. We could beat this horse to death again but why bother. At the end of the 2014 season, it will all work itself out. Trust me.

Bullcrap. There is NO way in hell that anyone can tell me the stadium and location make the value different. If it did - then the RAIDERS would be LAST.

If the logic of the LA crowd were sound, then the LA KISS would be worth more than the Dallas Cowboys. After all, it's EXACTLY what LA wanted - their own football team...one the BELONGS to them, not one that belongs to another city.

We may not be able to tell you that, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. Obviously it depends on the quality of the stadium - and LA hasn't been willing to pony up the bucks to make that happen.

As far as 'belonging to them', that's an extremely debateable comment. I think the LA fan base would welcome back the team that 'belonged to them' for 5 decades.

I can certainly sympathise with not wanting to lose your city's football team. But that's through experience, not imagination.
