Re: Rams to re-locate to L.A. in 7 years...?

Does anyone remember when Johnny Carson joked that the Rams were leaving LA to go to the Phillipines? Yeah, he said they were going to be called the Manila Folders. One of the great lines from the master.

RAM ON!
Not at all, Yoda. Had I meant to slap you, I would have said Yoda. I'm just stating the simple fact that numbers do not lie. One will always be one; it will never be two. But people can always ignore and/or lie about numbers. However, I am more than willing to listen to any example of a number lying.

Take, for example, the Bulger discussion that's going on. Our good pal R8erh8erMike has shown over and over again how effective Bulger has been in various situations; but that doesn't stop people (not numbers) from ignoring and/or lying about those numbers that have been established, shown, and recognized by those looking for the facts. Like I said, numbers don't lie.

P.S. We're not fighting, Yoda. We're just having an offseason discussion. If we all agreed, there'd be nothing to talk about. Look at which threads get the most views.......it's the ones with various viewpoints that are passionately debated. For example, if I start a thread that says "the whiners can suck my left man marble"; I'll get a couple of "I agree"s, a few smart butt remarks and that will be it. But if I start one that says, "I hate Bruce for joining the left man marble sucking whiners", then we got a hot topic.

Just keepin' it flowin', my man. Just keepin' it flowin'.

P.P.S. Is the fact that a band named WAR did a song titled WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS one of life's greatest ironies, or what?

I don't know Hub, you do seem to be glossing over the very legitimate point that even though blocks of seating were purchased by corporations, etc. that those fans didn't show up. Ticket sales show good, empty seats show bad. The "attendance" numbers then would be skewed. Sales figures and attendance are different animals.

I'm just rehashing, but it is a valid point.

Mok, the key word being "Purchased".

You're half right. Ticket sales do show good. However, to the decision makers, empty seats don't show up at all unless it represents an unpurchased ticket. And even in their worst season, last year, 97% of the seats were associated with a purchased ticket.

The former animal matters to the decision makers. The latter animal is of very little importance.

Feel free to jump in, mok. All are welcome, though I disagree that a valid point has been made.

As bad as some folks want it to be true, the St. Louis fans simply have not been as disappointing as some LA fans had hoped.

I don't think the decision makers are blind in that regard. I'm sure they're happy they got their money but if corporations are purchasing tickets that aren't getting used, then they will reduce the amount of tickets being purchased. Winning will solve a lot of these issues but there's no denying that fans have been unhappy about what's being put on the field and are not showing up. Throwing around sales numbers to illustrate how well the Rams are being supported is misleading. The fans aren't supporting them and those blocks of tickets were likely sold before the season even started.

Of course, we're talking about a management situation that said something along the lines of "it's too expensive to go to the Super Bowl" so it doesn't really matter what makes sense or whether the fans are supporting the team or not.

Thank you, moklerman. I couldn't have said it better myself. And this is not just a St. Louis problem.
