    Rams release Hollis Thomas

    This is per rotoworld:

    Rams released DT Hollis Thomas.
Thomas couldn't beat out Clifton Ryan to start at nose tackle and made just two tackles off the bench in three games. The 35-year-old may be finished.

    --------------

I know he didn't contribute much, but I don't really understand why we keep dumping players. This seemingly leaves us with little depth. Ryan, Gibson, Scott, and Ramsey, correct?

Certainly not a good thing; Hollis was a force in his day, but I'm not surprised.Feeling a bit of guilty relief as well since I swore I'd eat his deep-fried shorts if he made an impact.

I do think it is surprising how well-everything's relative at Ram level right now- the largely no-name interior DL is doing. They aren't good but they are better than the DL was last year, imo, especially in the 2nd half.

I guess youth and bulk are the only patches DeSpags have to use right now.

Btw, there are two other DTs:

Leger Douzable signed off the NYG PS a while back, UDFA from CFU in '08, I think. 305lbs.

And a rather colorful noob signed today, also UDFA, Marlon Favorite, 317lbs. Was significant part of LSU's BCS team in '07.With the Panthers in pre-season. Also part of a hip-hop group called Black Venym(pronounced "venom",apparently). Got a CD out called "Sophisticated Hustlas".

I hear Marlon is called "Big Fav". I can't imagine a guy with the remarkable monicker of Leger Douzable would need a nickname.

Whatever happened to that "He Hate Me" guy?

    Ditto that, Knight.

Maybe we can re-activate Adeyanju now. I want to see him back out on the field.

Hollis Thomas - when I found out we signed him, it reminded me of this:

Yep, all young guys whom they probably want to see more of. Plus, they slid Chris Long into the DT position a few times during the Packers game at least, and can technically do the same with Hall or Adeyanju, if the latter ever gets activated.

Not that Long is Tuck-esque just yet, but I think he did a pretty good job with it. Got decent penetration.

Fear is often a good motivator...question is how many others on the "D" will see this and think to themselves they better do better least they find themselves GONE....

Something tells me, the Rams will do better against Frisko at least on "D"

This was also a cost saving move. I heard that Hollis busted two toilet seats over the last week. Fatest guy in a Rams uniform in 20 years.

maybe when you consider how linemen have evolved into heavier players over the years..the fattest Ram of all time!
i cant think of a heavier one off the top of my head from twenty plus years ago..

feel a lil for the guy..as he is a St.Louis native but like i guess Spags and co...i want to see more of our kids like Scott & Ramsey on the field.
