Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
By Bill Coats
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Steven Jackson’s quest to get back into the lineup for Sunday’s game at San Francisco has hit a snag. After taking about half the reps in practice Wednesday, Jackson was in sweats and watching from the sideline when practice began Thursday at Rams Park. After a few minutes Jackson went inside, presumably to get treatment on his ailing thigh muscle.
Apparently the injury didn’t respond well after Wednesday’s workout. We’ll talk with Jackson after practice.
All for now . . . more later.

Ugh...it's not like he'll turn around our season at this point, though.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
This is quite odd. Perhaps they did not properly diagnose the injury?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
That has to be the problem. It didn't seem nearly as serious as it is now, when they first talked about it after the Cowboys game.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
This is absolutely ludacris ...
You know, I was a little upset when Jackson held out, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It took him two weeks to apparently get into game shape, then he started playing well, then he suffers this apparent "injury" against Dallas. We're all feeling good about him again, the fans are back on his side. And then what?
He's been out nearly ONE MONTH with a quad bruise/strain? Are you freaking kidding me? Unless it is like Av said, and they misdiagnosed the injury, I've lost about as much respect for this guy as I possibly can without getting to a point where I just don't even care about him anymore ...
Leonard Little is playing with a ripped hamstring, Pittman is playing with a pulled one, Carriker and Stanley have bum ankles, Bulgers entire body must be bruised ....
Yet, Jackson cannot play with a quad bruise? What a freaking joke this guy is turning into ....
And I hate to say that because I love Jackson, the football player ....

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
I wanted to see him at the niners game, but I agree with the above. This is getting beyond stupid. How could they misdiagnose this thing after 3 weeks? Do we have a cracker jack medical staff? There goes me wearing my Jackson Jersey. I'm sticking with my Faulk Jersery, or maybe Tory.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
I've been down on Jackson since he stayed out of camp. And even before that, I thought he was somewhat a baby. These last few weeks are only furthering my dislike for the guy.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
People who continue to think that Jackson is soft or some kind of baby need to go back and reread this Bill Coats write-up.
Clearly it seems like the injury is not responding to treatment, which I'm not sure how you can blame on the player. Sometimes that happens. Personally I think the Rams' staff would have been better off just sitting him and resting him until he was 100% healthy rather than trying to work him back in ASAP.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
I re-read it. Doesn't change my opinion. Most of my feelings for the guy go well beyond the last couple of weeks. This latest bit is just reinforcing it.
All I know is this guy seems to be injured more often than not. Maybe that is just my misconception. But it is one that I hold. Wrongly or not.

Re: Rams running back Steven Jackson back on sideline
Nick, I greatly respect you, but I cannot believe you are defending this guy ...
It's a QUAD BRUISE ...
All kinds of guys, at different positions, play through worse injuries, even on this team (i.e.. Pittman). If he has a quad bruise that doesn't respond in three weeks, he is fragile as glass, and we've wasted yet another large sum of money ...
He's packing it in, plain and simple. If he can't work, IR him, and let somebody like Darby get the reps ...

I don't care how great a guy is if he can't stay on the field he is no good to us.

I could care less if Jackson ever steps on the field again. He's just another of the long line of losers on this team.
