Rams Should Pursue Bobby Carpenter
I keep reading blurbs indicating that Bobby Carpenter is not fitting in Dallas' 3-4 defensive scheme. I think he'd be a good prospect for the SLB spot in a 4-3 and, certainly, the Rams could use some depth at the LB spot.
I'd offer a 2009 draft choice (4th or 5th round, perhaps) and see if we can get him.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Do not know much about the guy but giving up a 4th or 5th for a talented LB sounds good to me...

Re: Rams Should Pursue Bobby Carpenter
I'm still surprised Parcells picked up a classic 4-3 SAM with a 1st round pick. He had to have some idea that Carpenter was a square peg in his 3-4 wheel.

4th or 5th round pick, yes. 3rd round maybe... 1st or 2nd, no way.

You know, once you get a "Rep", for better or for worse, it sticks.
Parcells raided the Cowboys, but we see no "FOBP" slams against him.
He also passed up Jackson in favor of Julius Jones. He did a good job with the Cowboys, but had NOTHING to do with Romo, who is the main reason, imo, for their success, (which is NOT goingto carry into next year - mark my words).

A fourth or fifth sounds reasonable to me, and it's definitely something I'd look into.

Re: Rams Should Pursue Bobby Carpenter
How much playing time does he even get in Dallas? I don't remember hearing much of anything about him...

For a fourth or fifth rounder, I'll be willing to give it a try. If he doesn't make the squad, he'll still be good depth.

any second day pick...any combo of busts...i believe he could happen to still be the player he was coming out of college and just hasnt fit into the 3-4..... we certainly need all the help we can get in that department!

Re: Rams Should Pursue Bobby Carpenter
Shoot, considering our track record with picks 2nd round and after...I'd almost trade any pick but a first rounder for any experienced player who has shown they can play.

Re: Rams Should Pursue Bobby Carpenter
Barron could make the pro bowl this year. He's playing LT, still making RT money in essentially a contract year. Guys that don't love football and play in the NFL, play for contracts $$$$. He's going to play his little heart out this year. Make the pro bowl. So be it. But after he gets a big LT contract, he'll go back to doggin' it. Carpenter is definitely, as far as long term goes, the better part of the deal.
