Rams should stand firm against Sam Bradford mega-deal

Once again Florio has not only not hit the nail right on the head, he's missed the nail completely and smacked his thumb. Knowing what the current system is, you don't make your first pick the most expensive one possible unless you're willing to do what it takes to make it work. Tendering a 1 year contract, at the rookie minimum does nothing but garauntee that Bradford will not sign with the Rams, now or in the future. If the Rams wanted to make a stand, they should have chosen a different player, at a different position. Hopefully the new player agreement will include a rookie salary cap. I believe it must and will. The Rams are not in a position to be the sacrificial lambs (no pun intended).

Seriously, I just hope Sam feels he has great fan support, because these huge contracts can unfairly cast the draftee in a bad light. I believe he genuinely wants to get on the practice field with no negative repercussions.

Given that "taking a stand" likely increases the chance we'll be looking for a new front office come December, there is a part of me that sees the appeal here.

Problem is, the Rams are facing the option of having AJ Feeley as their starting QB.

Sadly, they can't afford (no pun intended) to stand pat.

This team has been on a downward spiral in recent years, and hit complete rock bottom over the span of the last two. If they can't get the #1 overall pick in the draft signed, this gives the franchise an even bigger black eye in public perception.

I just wish these athletes who claim they're "insulted" by multi-million dollar contract offers would spend one day in the work force; busting their ass in a hostile work environment, while making just enough money to survive by the skin of their ass on. Not that I'm one to feel sorry for professional athletes, but it's not like these guys show up on Sunday, play a game, then get mani/pedi's while lounging at the pool the rest of the week. I would venture a guess that most NFL'ers put more time in at their job than most of us do at ours.

Hostile work envrionment? Pretty sure my work envrionment does not involve getting run over by 300 pound animals every minute.

Bored by meeting? Yep.
