Tendering a 1 year contract, at the rookie minimum does nothing but garauntee that Bradford will not sign with the Rams, now or in the future. If the Rams wanted to make a stand, they should have chosen a different player, at a different position. Hopefully the new player agreement will include a rookie salary cap. I believe it must and will. The Rams are not in a position to be the sacrificial lambs (no pun intended).

On the other side of that coin, one might say a team going 6 and 42 in the last 3 years is the perfect sacrificial lamb ( no pun intended)

I think we should give him the exact same contract that Lions and Jets payed out. Why not, It was good for them. I have every expectation that we will sign Bradford and that both parties will be happy. ON TIME, ON TARGET.

If Sam doesn't take it, I will

Seriously, I just hope Sam feels he has great fan support, because these huge contracts can unfairly cast the draftee in a bad light. I believe he genuinely wants to get on the practice field with no negative repercussions.

The minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Given that Bradford is completely unproven at his job, maybe he should sign a contract worth that amount.

Imagine that.......a union job at minimum wage.

Re: Rams should stand firm against Sam Bradford mega-deal

Given that "taking a stand" likely increases the chance we'll be looking for a new front office come December, there is a part of me that sees the appeal here.

Which means, of course, that we will bend over backwards and give Bradford everything he wants.

I feel like the worst part is that he might be more than happy with a contract like Staffords but we'll never know because the greedy agents will look to cash in one last time before the new CBA.

Re: Rams should stand firm against Sam Bradford mega-deal

Problem is, the Rams are facing the option of having AJ Feeley as their starting QB.

Sadly, they can't afford (no pun intended) to stand pat.

This team has been on a downward spiral in recent years, and hit complete rock bottom over the span of the last two. If they can't get the #1 overall pick in the draft signed, this gives the franchise an even bigger black eye in public perception.

When you find 40000 people willing to pay to watch someone flip burgers, then we can start paying football players minimum wage.

Obviously, it's never going to happen bud.

I just wish these athletes who claim they're "insulted" by multi-million dollar contract offers would spend one day in the work force; busting their ass in a hostile work environment, while making just enough money to survive by the skin of their ass on. They'd go running back to their team willing to accept whatever offer "insulted them" in a heartbeat.

Again, only in a perfect world.

The Rams could do with forty thousand people at the Dome these days. Maybe they should be paying us to watch them.

Not that I'm one to feel sorry for professional athletes, but it's not like these guys show up on Sunday, play a game, then get mani/pedi's while lounging at the pool the rest of the week. I would venture a guess that most NFL'ers put more time in at their job than most of us do at ours.

Hostile work envrionment? Pretty sure my work envrionment does not involve getting run over by 300 pound animals every minute.

    Paper cut? You bet.
    Computer eye strain? Oh yea.
    Bored by meeting? Yep.
Run over by 300 pound animal? Not so much.

But if equal salary regardless of supply/demand is what you're looking for, there are places in this world that can offer that.
