    Rams sign Brock Berlin

Rams add QB Berlin to roster
    By Bill Coats

    05/17/2007

The Rams added another arm to their roster Thursday when they signed former University of Miami quarterback Brock Berlin.

He is expected to be on the field next week when organized team activities (OTAs) resume at Rams Park.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Berlin started for the Hurricanes for two seasons after transferring from the University of Florida. He originally signed with the Miami Dolphins in April 2005 as an undrafted free agent. He played in two preseason games before he was released.

Berlin, 25, re-signed with the Dolphins in January 2006 and was sent to NFL Europe. He completed 99 of 181 passes for 1,041 yards and seven touchdowns, with seven interceptions, for the Hamburg (Germany) Sea Devils.

Miami cut him again during training camp, and he was out of football until April 25, when the Dallas Cowboys signed him.

His stay in Dallas was brief; the Cowboys released him May 10 after picking up another free-agent quarterback, Matt Moore.

Berlin joins Marc Bulger, Gus Frerotte, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Drew Tate among Rams quarterbacks.

I hope nobody reads anymore into this than there is, just another player in camp to take some snaps.i like the ideal,if Bulger is going to throw 500 times during the season,he doesn't need to be throwing alot in camp.

I kinda hope Tate beats Fitzpatrick out for the third string QB role.

I think Tate is an excellent player, but his size is questionable.

I'm a diehard canes fan, but he wasn't tht bad...he was very good when he was in the shotgun formation, but that's basically all he was good for, I took a deep sigh when I read the title of this thread because he's not a great QB, he is only a camp body, but he does very well in the shotgun formation from all I remember

That's right, BB becomes another sparring partner for training camp. That's all. I hope Fitz continues to develop well as our #3 QB.

Personally, i think we would be better off with Lou Brock, who i hear throws a very tight spiral and whose mobility is legendary.

Heinrich Brock from Berlin has more of a shot on this roster than Brock Berlin.

berlin was only brought in to take some snaps while tate rests . tate was the only qb in camp , even their qb coach had to take some snaps because no one else was in camp . as for fitz , he will be getting in the game more than you think , he is being groomed to be #2 behind bulger , he has already proven he can start and play , this is his 3rd year here , and 2nd under linehan's system . ferotte was just insurance for the short term . they traded for dave ragone last year , and he couldn't beat out fitz . tate could do well enough to make the developemental squad this year and maybe be the #3 behind bulger and fitz next year . that would give us a very good qb corps that is young and experianced in the same system .
