I am very happy with this vital depth move.
A defeated look of consternation, dissappointment, or even pain. The name derives from the look one often gets when challenged by a large BM.

Rams agreed to terms with RB Cadillac Williams, formerly of the Bucs.

The Rams had a chance for legit Steven Jackson insurance by bringing in Jason Snelling. Instead, they've opted to go with a third-down specialist (Williams) and a brittle change-of-pace back (Jerious Norwood). Williams averaged a worthless 2.2 YPC through five games as the Bucs' lead back last season. That average spiked to 5.0 YPC the rest of the way when he was sprinkled in as LeGarrette Blount's passing-down replacement. The Rams are still in trouble if S-Jax goes down.

Re: Patience pays off once again!! (Re: Cadillac Williams)

Just rewatched the TB game to get a feel for CW. Not many carries but quite effective as an outlet receiver; caught everything but not much YAC. His experience/smarts really showed, esp on the heartbreaking gamewinner TD when he kept working to give Freeman a target.

Tough to say if he could carry the load for a game but he did play all 16 last year in his limited role. Maybe the prolonged rest of the lockout will have helped him regain his explosion & cutting. I think he's had issues with both patellar tendons, I believe, but isn't that better than an ACL or MCL for stuff that a RB does?

Off topic NB: REALLY interesting game to watch in terms of the draft/FA personnel changes so far. The Rams were v. effective with 2-back sets & using SJ as a decoy. Darby made some plays there & SJ was even more effective because of it,imo. The Rams O sputtered in the 2nd half, run and pass, but I never saw Darby or Toston touch the ball again.

Why stop doing something that worked until the D proves they've figured it out?!

Was this Spags being conservative? Shurmur being cute? Defensive adjustments ( hard to argue that, imo, since, as I said, The Rams never even tried to use Darby again) ? Whatever theory you support, you have to hope that McD's O will be as advertised; utilize the weapons/effective strategy that are working at that moment against that specific opponent.

On the other side of the run, Grant pretty much disgraced himself on several occasions. Looking forward to new blood there, for sure.

    Other notables:

Brandon Gibson had a chance at a couple of long sideline receptions, inc one in the endzone. Both times he allows the DB, Biggers, to subtly arm wrestle/pull back his inside hand; very cagey move by the DB. It'll be interesting to see if he's pumped up those guns a bit so he can fight through that.

Murphy was so out of position on some plays that it's not surprising The Rams brought in a vet like Harris.A run of dings at CB & that last drive by TB (Both Fletcher & Bartell go down, Ron comes back & really mans up a couple of times but Butler was already out & the youngsters get discombobulated repeatedly) could be replayed more than once this year. At least there is system continuity for Murphy so hopefully he'll be able to get the mental side down a little better.

Speaking of Bartell, he shut down Williams for most of the game. There were two Keystone cop INT botches but neither involved Bartell. Just sayin....

IF Jackson does go down, which he probably will at some point.? I will feel a lot better about our backfield this year, compared to last season anyhow. Williams could be a big help in the passing game, he should take a few carries away from Jackson, which will help. Apart from his receiving skills, he isnt much of a threat running the ball.?

    Great signing. Excellent depth.

Seriously, not getting the pom poms out for this one but hey, they are trying to build a winner.

I'm happier with this signing than I was before I rewatched the game vs TB last year. As a healthy tandem, I think SJ/CW will be formidable.Keep your fingers crossed...but isn't that always the case?

Although, I was looking at a few other possible backups with my fingers crossed, this was the guy I thought would be the realistic pickup for the front Rams the entire free agentcy. This is going to be a great year! I just ordered my Sunday Ticket package this morning! No more squinting at the laptop for me, I'm moving up in the world, lol.

Not a Cadillac...they're notoriously unreliable and are only driven by people at the end of their careers. Sure, they have a lot of horsepower and look pretty, and they may look great on paper, but they have major durability issues.

Terrible puns aside, I'm happy with this signing. We finally have a backup for SJ. With Jackson, Williams and Norwood, McDaniels is going to have some fun this year.

He's not what he use to be, but still a great signing. Him and Norwood, would make a nice combo if SJ ever went down.
