Rams sign first-round pick Michael Brockers

The St. Louis Rams announced that first-round defensive tackle Michael Brockers has signed his four-year rookie contract.

Brockers becomes the 14th first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to sign a contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. As the No. 14 pick in the draft, Brockers' contract is expected to be worth just over a fully-guaranteed $9.5 million and include a standard team option for a fifth season.

The 6-foot-6, 322-pound Brockers played two seasons at LSU, starting 14 games before turning pro following his redshirt sophomore season. Brockers totaled 79 tackles, including 11 tackles for a loss, and had two sacks with one interception and a blocked kick during his 27-game career in Baton Rouge.

Brockers is projected to be an instant starter next to free-agent addition Kendall Langford in a rebuilt interior defensive line that will also rotate Trevor Laws on passing downs. With Brockers signed, second-round picks Brian Quick and Janoris Jenkins, and third-round pick Trumaine Johnson are the Rams' three remaining unsigned drafted choices.
