Re: Rams Sign Glover
Well....If you had concerns about Haslett....AKA Darth Vader running the defense, How's that for signing #1. Glover is a STUD folks......and it's Jim Haslett's relationship that got this deal done and quickly. Chalk one in the plus column for the new staff.
Now let's hope we get a deal worked out with Ike that is friendly to both sides and hell....I'd be just downright giddy...hahaha

Did he really play at a pro-bowl level last year, or is he a perennial pick that made it more on his name?
I recall him being great with the Saints like a long time ago. I'm not doubting this move at all, just wondering if this guy really can still be factor?

Well he has to be an improvement over Damione Lewis

Re: Rams Sign Glover
He's certainly not a young whipper-snapper at 31 years old. I haven't seen enough of him to comment on his current playing ability. But, he has been solid most of his career. Let's hope our people have seen enough to believe he can contribute and help solidify the middle of our line for at least a few years.

You got to admit that Coakley was pretty much invisible all of last year.

Re: Rams Sign Glover
to be honest, all the games I get are the NY Giants games, I live in NJ, so I don't get to watch every Rams game, I wish I could, and I am gonna get every channel so I can get the Rams games, but as far as I know, Coakley is a good player, I don't think he's a mistake..

Re: Rams Sign Glover
Good signing. Pro-Bowl recognition can be a bit of a lottery but Peer voting carries a lot of weight.
It's good signing that doesn't rule out re-signing Pickett, but it does mean the team won't be held hostage in any contractual debates with Pickett and his agent.
Glover will provide that proven 3-4 flexibility that we've been debating for some time.
Lewis is gone.
I wouldn't hold Glover's age against him, he's 2 years younger than Bruce...........................

Rams Sign Glover, just in
From ESPN.com:
ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams signed defensive tackle La'Roi Glover on Monday, inking the six-time Pro Bowl selection who was released by Dallas last week to a three-year deal.
The 31-year-old Glover made the Pro Bowl last season and finished with 26 tackles and three sacks. He has 71½ career sacks, second all-time among defensive tackles behind Warren Sapp's 84½.
Glover, who had 21½ sacks in four seasons with the Cowboys, was released on Thursday.
The Rams need help on the interior line with Ryan Pickett and Damione Lewis both unrestricted free agents.
The Cowboys would have owed Glover a $1.5 million roster bonus had he remained on the team. He was scheduled to make $4.5 million this season, the last of his five-year deal. He will count $1.2 million against the team's salary cap next season.
Just thought i let the clan know that we are taking steps to improve defense. also i would like to add that kirby puckett has passed away and he was the man and although a diehard cards fan, kirby will be missed.

Re: Rams Sign Glover
As Rambos said, "I still want Bruce!"
Fat Pang, you mean Lewis is GONE in terms of his ability? Or did I miss something due to all the turmoil around No. 80?

I like the pickup. He's obviously a guy who Haslett likes and he's been very consistent and very good for a number of years.

Sorry, I meant Lewis will be gone. I just can't see him sticking around after this.
I don't have the inside track though................
