Wikipedia is on it. Already says LB for St. Louis Rams.

What type of LB is he? Better in coverage? Run stopping? Can someone fill me in?

Story Discussion LB Poppinga agrees with Rams
    BY JIM THOMAS STLtoday.com | Posted: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 5:59 pm |

Font Size: Default font size Larger font size Share A free-agent signing frenzy unlike any for the Rams since the move to St. Louis in 1995 continued early Tuesday evening when the team agreed to terms on a one-year deal with linebacker Brady Poppinga, formerly of Green Bay.

Poppinga is the ninth free agent to join the Rams this week and the second linebacker. Unlike Zac Diles, the former Houston Texan, Poppinga is projected as a strongside linebacker where he's expected to compete with Na'ill Diggs for the starting spot. Diles will start at weakside linebacker.

Poppinga, 31, has excellent size at 6-3, 250 pounds. He played in only six games with one start last season for the Packers, registering 14 tackles and one sack. He missed the rest of the season with a knee injury that required surgery, and was released by Green Bay last week. Previously, he started 39 games over a three-year period with the Packers from 2006 through 2008.

The Brigham Young University product is considered a stout run defender and a very good special teams player, but with liabilities in coverage. He visited Rams Park on Sunday for a physical and workout, but left without a contract.

As the Rams continue to sign players, they continue to release players to stay under the training camp/preseason limit of 90. The latest to go was rookie free agent Arthur Thomas, a defensive tackle out of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

I like the idea of a stout run defender LB. We'll see if he still has wheels.

Spags and Billy must see something from this guy to sign him; unfortunately, I am not all that excited at this time but, hopefully, he'll make me a believer.

2 down thumper at SLB IMO great fit for the rams since our SS's Stewart, Hines, and others will be playing LB in passing situations. Good signing I think we should set on d with this signing. I wish the team was a little younger at DT and LB, but the vets will certainly help.

Re: Rams sign Poppinga - terms tbc

Considering how many holes we had on our D when Atogwe departed and in light of the true figure of our cap space being about a third of what the majority of us had expected, we have done a tremendous job in FA filling those holes with reasonably priced vets, until the new regime have had enough drafts under their belt to fill them with draft picks.

The Rams have made a concerted effort to improve there run D.! However, I do not think the Rams have brought in any LB's who can cover. Also, if you factor in we lost Atogwe's ability as a pass defender. The Rams pass defense could exploited this season.?
