Rams sign RB Kay-Jay Harris, place Tony Fisher on IR

Kay-Jay Harris used to be a Standout at West Virgina as I've read today, Nick would know alot more about him than me of course.

Zygmunt told me they will probably put JR Reed back in that role...

    also, T. Fisher on IR.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought for sure we would have brought someone up from our Practice Squad. I wonder why we didn't have this guy on our practice squad if this was the RB we would have signed if one of our RB's got hurt. Only thing I can think of was that it would have been someone different had it been Davis or Jackson, but I still don't understand why him especially if he doesn't return kicks. Maybe a good ST guy? I'm confused, lol.

3rd Down Runningback, like it says in that tiny post from Bernie, they expect to put J.R Reed back at Kick Returner.

You obviously missed the point. Fisher filled two roles (one active roster spot). Now we have two guys to fill those roles (two active roster spots). Now who sits?

I hope that's the case. In the few games he played he didn't get many chances for anyone to see what he could do. On returns he was like a madman with his disregard for personal safety and on D he was often in on the tackle or very close to it. If this is true, it'll be good to have him back.

KAY JAY!!! Harris put up some amazing runs in his WVU career. He's up there near the top if not at the top of the list in terms of best single game numbers we've ever had. He's a strong inside runner who displays good burst when he gets to the hole. Very good vision as a runner and does a good job to gain positive yards. Good tackler on special teams, but didn't have a lot of opportunities as a receiver in our (WVU's) offense.

So Linehan is already familiar with him as well.

Doesn't Fisher sit, since he's going to IR? Fisher did fill two roles, but Reed was still on the roster, so technically two spots were being taken up anyways. With Fisher on IR, a spot is freed and someone is brought in. I don't think we have to sit anyone additionally.

This is a head scratcher. Replacing one guy with two? Obbviously Linehan is still not high on Fred Russell. I'm looking forward to hearing the reasoning behind this decision.

Actually, I misread Tanus' post. Since JR Reed has been inactive from the game day roster in recent weeks, we used only one game day roster spot to fill both our 3rd RB and our kick returner in Fisher.

But now we've got two guys who will be active on game day for those roles, so Tanus is right - someone else is going to have to sit to make room on game day.

So nick... Do you think kay jay is a good fit for a 3rd down back? Is he a good change-of-pace-back for our offense? Or is he another north to south runner?

Interesting news. I thought Russell had the inside track for that job, being on the practice squad and all. I'm a little disappointed that we probably won't get to see Russell this year now, but on the other hand I don't know enough about KJ to judge if this is a better move than going with Russell.

It will be interesting to see if he is placed on the active roster.

As an aside, I like the sig, RoD, but, technically, God's on the right. That would actually be Travis Fisher as Adam.

Always spot-on with the technicalities, you'd almost think I was talking to a lawyer, oh wait

Actually as an engineer (soon, anyways) I should be expected to be quite meticulous with the details too, or people might die when my work blows up in their faces :x

Now I think Kay-Jay was with the Dolphins earlier? Does anyone know if he saw the field in preseason at all or?

it still makes no sense why we signed this guy when he wasn't even on our PS. why do we keep players on our PS if we aren't going to bring them up to the active roster in the event of an injury?
