    Rams sign RB Paul Smith

    POST-DISPATCH
    Saturday, May. 06 2006

Free agent running back Paul Smith is the newest addition to the Rams' roster.
Smith, 28, hasn't been a starter in his six NFL seasons, but he has played
    extensively on special teams.

In 2000, Smith, 5-foot-11 and 235 pounds, was a fifth-round draft out of
Texas-El Paso by San Francisco. He spent four seasons with ***** and then two
with Detroit. Last year as the Lions' backup fullback, he carried four times
for 16 yards and caught six passes for 49 yards.

I guess, because he hasn't played as KR since 2002 and last year as rb fumbled once, although he also played defence last year

Just very cheap insurance in case hedgehung gets hurt before the season starts. We didnt have another fullback on the roster, since i dont really count massey as a fullback.

    ramming speed to all

I hope they didn't spend more than league minimum on him. He doesn't sound too impressive. It doesn't sound like he'd get through the 'Girl Scout Cookie' blockade at the Wal-Mart.

Those 'Girl Scout Cookie' blockades are tougher than the Rams 2005 defense was. I swear, they give the Salavation Army at Christmas time a run for their money. However, they aren't just at Wal-Mart, try going to a Walgreens without having to juke a Girl Scout Cookie pusher.

Actually, Massey is primarily our long snapper. He's listed as a FB but a man can make a great living in the NFL being a long snapper. It's a skill few possess but if you get a good one, you better keep one.

That's right, TX. Since losing Jeff Robinson (TE / Long Snapper), Massey has done a fine job in getting those long snaps where they need to be.

It's kind of a lowly assignment but it becomes critically important on key plays.

FB Hedgecock has been developing and I think that this season he will be ready for the new, revamped running game!
