Rams Sign Trent Green
From AOL Sports
Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms on a contract with free agent quarterback Trent Green.
This will be the second stint in St. Louis for Green, who grew up in the area. He previously spent the entire 1999 season on injured reserve for the Rams, watching the team win the Super Bowl after he was hurt in the preseason. He then started five games as Kurt Warner's backup in 2000.
After the 2000 season Green was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he stayed for six years, and then the Miami Dolphins, where he started five games in 2007. In both of his last two stops he was carted off the field after taking shots to the head, and that has raised questions about whether it's safe to be back on the field. But Green says he's been medically cleared to play, and he will, as Marc Bulger's backup, in 2008.
Meh, I don't really care for this signing. I don't think Green has 'it' anymore.Last edited by Milan; -03-10-2008 at 07:04 PM.

I don't really like the signing either, but if it's only for 1 year and he comes cheap then it's not so bad.

Re: Rams Sign Trent Green
It's kinda nice to see him back on the team, but actually being on the field. Hopefully the addition of Bell makes that happen...

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

Re: Rams Sign Trent Green
Even if Green isn't the player he was a few years ago, I think this is a good signing. He's a more than capable backup and is familiar with the way Saunders does things.

Re: Rams Sign Trent Green
It's a two-year deal, according to the Post Dispatch...
Ultimately I think this is a solid signing. Not great, but solid. Green's injury history worries me, but hopefully he never has to take the field. His familiarity with the system should be beneficial as well.Green agrees on two-year deal with Rams

Trent Green is coming back home.
The veteran quarterback who played at Vianney High has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Rams.
“We have now solidified our quarterback position,” Rams coach Scott Linehan said in a statement released by the team. “You will be hard-pressed to find the quality we have at that position. Now we have another quarterback that has played in the Pro Bowl."
Green, 37, played in the Pro Bowl in 2004 and '06; current Rams starter Marc Bulger made the Pro Bowl roster in 2004 and '07.
Green was with the Rams in 1999 and 2000. Were it not for Green's knee injury in Game 3 of the 1999 preseason, Kurt Warner might never have gotten off the bench in St. Louis.
But then-San Diego safety Rodney Harrison took out Green's left knee with a questionable hit. The obscure Warner stepped into the lineup. And the rest is St. Louis sports history.
Green missed the entire '99 season. After spending the 2000 season as Warner's backup, starting five times when Warner was injured, Green was traded to Kansas City in the spring of 2001.
Two teams, two Pro Bowls, and more than 22,000 passing yards later, Green is returning to the Rams. He recently was cleared to play after suffering his second serious concussion in two years.
He replaces Gus Frerotte, who recently was cut, on the Rams' depth chart.
Green spent 2007 with Miami but played only five games before suffering the concussion. Green started every game in Kansas City from 2001-2005, and the first game of 2006, the longest consecutive game streak by a quarterback in team history (81 games). In Kansas City, Green completed 62 percent of his passes for 21,459 yards and 147 touchdowns.

Re: Rams Sign Trent Green
Make sure he wears a double helmet protection. I hope he is as best recovered as possible from those difficult-to-recover-from concussions.
:r Otherwise ... Welcome back TG!

Re: Rams Sign Trent Green
It's an upgrade from last season's back up for sure. It might be a good pick up. I really hope Bulger stays healthy this year...

Like any other insurance payment that you make, you hope like crazy that you never have to make a claim. In this case, lets pray that he NEVER sees the field. Long Live Bulger.
