Rams sign WR Reche Caldwell

ESPN...

Quote:
Reche Caldwell still hasn't cashed in on a big contract yet from his 61-catch season with the Patriots in 2006, but he's hoping to strike gold in St. Louis.

Caldwell agreed Tuesday to a one-year,$645,000 contract with the Rams. He had a minimum salary offer to stay with the Redskins and he also had an offer from Carolina.

He becomes the second Redskins backup to leave for the Rams. Last Friday, cornerback David Macklin signed a one-year deal with St. Louis.

The Rams will be the 28-year-old receiver's fourth team in four seasons. His career started in San Diego where he was a second-round pick of the Chargers in the 2002 draft.

He had 15 catches last season with the Redskins.

It's a low risk signing for the price, but it isn't like Caldwell has much potential either. He's said to have chronic knee issues and couldn't pass James Thrash or Keenan McCardell, 37, on the Redskins' depth chart last year. The Rams shouldn't think of him as any more than a fourth receiver. For now, he's No. 3.

Hardly. He'll be a camp body. At best he'll be behind Hall and Stanley if not on the last cut list.

Dude ain't been the same since those drops against Indy in '06. Too bad, too... he had a pretty decent year up until then, for a Moss/Welker-less WR corps.

Hmmm. It was a good body fill. We won't see too much of him. Maybe on special teams atleast.

Hopefully he'll have a rebirth in St. Louis and if he doesn't- who cares? He comes cheap and will become expendable if he doesn't produce.

Re: Rams sign WR Reche Caldwell

Reche Caldwell is the older brother of Andre Caldwell WR ,Florida ( I believe, they're definitely related), could it be our crack FO thinking they got a jump on the the draft!!!! (LOL)

Re: Rams sign WR Reche Caldwell

I'm not too happy about it.

Last memory I have of him was him DROPPING a critical pass in that AFC Championshp CHOKE by the Pats two years ago. Then he looked towards the huddle, and his eyes were wide open.

Not the fondest of memories.

Ditto. He was completely asleep on that play, and it could have won the game for the Patriots. It doesn't get much worse than that. How about the Rams work on signing a guy who can actually catch the ball.

Re: Rams sign WR Reche Caldwell

Well, Trent Green's gonna need someone to throw to on the sidelines while the rest of the Rams practice.

Just kidding.... but man, you guys are brutal.... lol. Here the guy is joining the blue and gold and the fan base is ripping him. ha ha hah too funny.

Anyways, just to sprinkle a positive thought out there.... I think he was plainly picked up because he's worked under Saunders' offense. Like some said, "camp body"... but I think more than that. The guy will understand the lingo and terminology and help the other WR's understand what Saunder's wants. uhhhhh hopefully.

If not, maybe with his influence the Rams receivers will stop paying attention, wear orange vests, and stand around leaning on their shovels until 3:00.
