Rams Song of Yearning --What's YOUR tune?

    :\

Once in a while I feel sad and discouraged about my Rams -- enter the first six games of the 2007 season.

Here at the Clan one often finds solace and space to share these feelings with fellow warriors in time of relfection and song as I sense tonight in the NFL side of my soul.

Poetry in battle, the cry for victory, the cry of defeat ... that agony of defeat.

One of my favorite songs that I cherish outside* of my country's cultural folklore and art* among many that come to me now and then from within today's globalized air of communication, knowledge, and talent is this one (7+ min. version):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHjT3...0live%20sydney

If you can, please take the volume up, up, while you listen and think...

"--Hey now, hey now, I'm Rams Fan ever!" :r

There is freedom within, there is freedom without,
try to catch the deluge in a paper cup.
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost,
but you'll never see the end of the road
    while youre travelling with me.

    Hey now, hey now,
    don't dream it's over.
    Hey now, hey now,
    when the world comes in.
    They come, they come,
to build a wall between us...
    we know they won't win.

Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof,
my possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof.
In the paper today tales of war and of waste,
but you turn right over to the T.V. page.

    Hey now, hey now,
    don't dream it's over.
    Hey now, hey now,
    when the world comes in.
    They come, they come,
to build a wall between us...
    we know they won't win.

Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum,
and I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart.
Only shadows ahead, barely clearing the roof,
get to know the feeling of liberation and relief.

    Hey now, hey now,
    don't dream it's over.
    Hey now, hey now,
    when the world comes in.
    They come, they come...
to build a wall between us.

    Don't ever let them win.

I really like this live, mellow version of 'Don't Dream It's Over' by Crowded House, played in Sydney, ca. 1996. [Sadly, so sadly, two years ago drummer Paul Hester committed suicide in an Australian Park. ...Depression simply got the best of him (and of these lyrics).]

    "Hey now, hey now,
    don't dream it's over.
    Hey now, hey now,
    when the world comes in.
    They come, they come...
to build a wall between us.

We know the Rams will win.
    "

    GO RAMS! GO RAMS!

    Don't dream it's over.
    Go Rams, Go Rams,
    when the world comes in.
    They come, they come...
to build a wall between us.

...We know the Rams will win.

During the preseaon someone here placed that really nice and upbeat Ray Charles tune 'What I'd Say' on YouTube as a preview for Steven Jackson's expectations we all had of him for 07.

But as I mentioned above, I feel awfully blue right now, Rams blue.

*.- Please believe me, much of today's mexican music is utterly bad and seriously disgraceful to my country's true and rich melodies, whether traditional, romantic / ballads, pop, etc. Trash, embarrasing, cheap. And contagious to many!

I tell you, we know better than that.

Fortunately, I trust the wisdom and sake of art and decency will prevail through all this and soon recall a more meaningful instinct of melodious music. Either from heritage or from virtuous innovation and integrity.

Great song RealRam. The song that I play when I get depressed is Beck's Guess i'm doing fine. It's more of a wallow in your pity song but it really makes me feel better afterwords. (Wow, talking about all these emotions and stuff makes me feel like a hug. Who wants a hug?)

Yeah, here's a song that the Rams could have adopted and played for 14 of the past 18 years....

"I'm a loser", by the Beatles.

    ..sorry, had to.
    Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Re: Rams Song of Yearning --What's YOUR tune?

Instant Karma, originally recorded by John Lennon.

    'AND WE ALL...SHINE...ON..."

Also, I believe Claude Wroten's personal theme song is also a Ray Charles song. It's entitled "Let's go get stoned." This is followed by Fountains Of Wayne's "Planet of Weed" as a seconday anthem.

The Offense has adopted Ben Folds' Narcolepsy as their official theme, which contains the lyrics...

    "I should warn you...
    I go to sleep....
    I'm not tired...
    Just sleep..."

I'd also like to propose Coldplay's "Everything's Not Lost" as the official anthem until we are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

A win on Sunday will prompt repeated covers of Dianah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Made" whilst a loss will endorse the necessity to hear B.B King's "Every Day I have the Blues" which contains the appropriate lyric...

    "I can't win, because I don't have a thing to lose."

Alternatively, one might choose to go with Radiohead's "No Surprises"

In all, I'd go with the Killer's "Everything Will Be Alright" for a little optimism.

This song could be dedicated to our hopes of us getting to the SuperBowl.
One of the saddest songs I know of...

Re: Rams Song of Yearning --What's YOUR tune?

    "Twinkle, twinkle little star..."

Nice songs. Van Halen's 'Jump'? No? Okay, then 'Nothing Is Easy' by Jethro Tull. Or...

'Time Has Come Today' by the Chambers Brothers.

    "Time has come today,
    there are things to realize...
    "

Or something newer. Hey, country music welcome.

Re: Rams Song of Yearning --What's YOUR tune?

This is gonna be real stupid but here goes,It's 2 the tune of ELO'S hit

The Rams were, picked to win the west
the first loss, was hard to digest
then the loses piled up, now it's 6 and we do really Suuuuuck
And I can't get it out of my head,no I can't get it out of my head
Now the whole season 's in the red
and I can't get it out of my head.
    Jackson,has the crotch rot
    Bulger,throws like Willard Scott
    Linehan might have a plan
But it doesn't show it's for the RAMS
And I can't get it out of my head,no I can't get it out of my head
Now the Domes fans have all fled
And I can't get it out of my head.........
    ..........Chorus BS................
    .....................................
    .....More music................
    It's sunday & I'm weiry........Passes dropped and missed Tackles
    It ain't got no end
I'll find myself a drinking hole
watch Wilkins kick hit the pole
And I can't get it out of my head, no I can't get it out of my head
I'm a Ram fan but in a Daze and I can't get it out of my head.......

    That's my song
I stopped going to the dentist.......I got tired of the cavity searches!

A good Tom Petty song would be "Won't Last Long" off of "Echo.

I like "Downbound Train" by Springsteen after a loss.
