Rams TE Brody Eldridge Suspended 4 Games
Rams TE Brody Eldridge suspended for 4 games

The good thing for the St. Louis Rams is they have nine tight ends on their 90-man roster right now, plenty to sort through as they look to keep three or four following final cuts.
One of them will not be available for the first four games of the season. Brody Eldridge, a fifth-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2010, has been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Howard Balzer of the SportsXchange first reported the news.
Eldridge, who played with Rams quarterback Sam Bradford at Oklahoma, was claimed off waivers from the Colts. Now, we might have a better idea why the new front office and coaching staff in Indianapolis cut loose a player that had contributed for two seasons.
This isn’t going to help Eldridge’s push for a job but he is eligible for training camp and preseason to show the Rams and other club what he can do after he sits out.
Re: Rams TE Brody Eldridge Suspended 4 Games
There have been an aweful lot of PED issues lately. Is this because the NFL is checking more stuff than before, players pushing the envelope, or products not fully disclosing their contents.
I have heard that some branches of the military/Gov't have recently doubled the list of items that cause a possitive test result. Could the NFL be doing the same thing?

Could be, but the fact remains that there is a list, and it's easy to check before taking any questionable substances. This to me is a no brainer, when in doubt, don't use it.
We'll see if there are any extraordinary circumstances that might have caused Eldridge to test positive in error, but these guys need to be sure before they ingest something that could affect their careers. Check the list, talk to team trainers, ask the league, but be sure.

As Gap mentioned, it could very well be that players are "...pushing the envelope". But, WHY!?! :ram:
I'd rather hope that it is only a matter of UFOs -- unidentified formulations objected -- in the nutrition.

I cannot remember the player, but one of our RAMS got busted even when following the rules you (and the league that busted him) listed above. In that case it was an unlisted ingredient.

It was David Vabora, and he did check with the league, who told him if he took the suppliment, he did so at his own risk. It turned out that it contained a banned substance. He sued the manufacturer and won, but still got dinged by the NFL. The process is convoluted, but unless the league says there is no problem, it's probably not a good idea to use a questionble substance. Again, when in doubt, don't.
Re: Rams TE Brody Eldridge Suspended 4 Games
The NFL can make it easier by posting a list of approved substances and then post at the bottem, anything after that is banned. But seriously, we all know players seach for an edge, but that edge ought to come from talent, training, and effort, NOT chemistry.
The NFLs bans and controlled use of substances, I am in total aggreement one

Well it's a good thing we have 15 TEs on the roster. We should be ok.
