    I went with "in transition."

    This year, we have seen:

    * Bulger truly become entrenched as the long-term starter at QB.

    * The RB torch slowly being handed from Faulk to Jackson.

    * The emergence of McDonald and Curtis as contributers on the offense.

    * Pisa Tinoisamoa becoming the leader of the defense.

    * A possible emergence of Jimmy Kennedy, Bryce Fisher and Anthony Hargrove.

    and

    * Movement away from the aging Aeneas Williams.

I think the future of the Rams is bright, but they're going to be something other than the GSOT team of 99-01.

AR, I agree with you 99%. My only question is how "long-term" MB is going to be. And before someone comes back at me, this is no discredit to him or any relation to that other guy. I am concerned for Marc's health due to the OLine needing work. I wonder how long he will be as good of a QB as he has become. I hope for long term. GSOT is gone. But Marc is the leader of this new, potentially good enough to great offense. But he is also potentially beginning his retirement.

Management needs to do all that is possible to shore up that line to give him the chance for that long term, remembered in Rams history career...

Any QB is one hit away from the sideline, but I agree that QBs in the Ram offense are more at risk than other QBs are. Perhaps, in a perfect world, a big QB in the Duante Culpepper/Ben Rothlisberger mold might be preferable, but none of those guys are as big as DTs.

Not really what I meant, I was placing the need on the line. I think MB could have a long and hopefully successful career as a Ram. I just don't think it will happen if he spends as much time on his back, or more specifically, his shoulder as this line makes him spend.

Well, I see Pace and Timmerman as fixtures on the line who will definitely be back next year. McCollum is also serviceable. Beyond that, upgrades are needed.

The Rams need to address the O line in the draft. If there is an OG or OT available in the first two rounds that can be a starter ( not another project), I say take him.

This has definatly been a frustraiting season. IMO, it looks like the D is starting to show signs of life. I'll be watching very closely this weekend.

Re: The Rams are a team [finish this sentence]

    I went with "teetering"...
I have to disagree with those who say the 2004 Rams have no talent. This team is loaded with Talent. Bulger, Jackson, Faulk, Holt, Bruce..um...did I just name all offense?
Seriously, I think our team has as much, if not more talent and potential talent than any other team in the NFL. We are lacking in discipline, coaching, and we seriously need to find our 'center' or whatever you wish to call it. Given the right coaches (not saying anything bad about any of them except Marmie) with the right plays (which we can't seem to find) and the right combination of players...we are a deadly team.
I work in the Engineering department at a small hospital. I have only 2 people over me in the place, the Director of Engineering and the Administrator. I have 5 guys working for me. Last summer, I had myself and 2 other guys working with me. I was in charge of what went on. I made the calls. The rest of the Engineering department was building a new facility in a nearby town...all 8 of them. Two months after they began thier project, they returned to find that not only did the 3 of us keep up with our normal duties, (preventive maintenance, work orders, etc.) but we had also managed to complete a 9000 square foot addition on the hospital 2 months ahead of the schedule. I didn't ride my guys butts. I told them what I expected of them, what I believed they were capable of, assigned work according to thier strengths, and gave them a deadline.
The Administrator handed out a large bonus to those who worked with me, and also to myself. The guys who went to Nixa to build the new clinic got a smaller bonus.
I guess what I am saying is that if the coaching staff used each mans strengths and encouraged them, chewing them out when they did something they are not capable of, maybe we would be the team we all want.
As it is, until the coaching staff changes thier approach, we will not be a consistent team. But, good or bad, I will ALWAYS be a Rams fan....

Re: The Rams are a team [finish this sentence]

If this season is any indication the Rams are a team on the downslide.

I have to agree with thoey about the O-line. Martz will never learn. His scheme and blatant lack of attention to the O-line will eventually decimate another QB with injuries.

Pace is a greedy pig and there is no guarantee that he will return. Timmerman will be 34 and McCollum will be 35. The combined neglect of the O-line, by Martz and the FO, could haunt the Rams for years to come.

I said in transition. I really don't see the Rams going downhill after this season. I think we can only get better in the offseason, expecially on the defensive side of the ball. As long as we can sign Bruce and Pace, the offense will be fine.

I agree completely. Hopefully the front office has learned that while you can find good offensive linemen on the second day of the draft, you shouldn't restrict yourself to those choices because of that possibility. I'm going to be rather suspicious of the 2005 draft if I don't hear the names "Brown" and/or "Baas" being announced as Ram picks in the first couple rounds.
