Re: Which Rams team is the greatest of all time?

I'd have to say the best of my lifetime was the '01 Rams, but I missed the '70s and everything prior. It really seemed like they were going to score on every drive, and the defense was no slouch either. One point I'd make about 2001 and whether the Patriots were truly a better team is that we did beat them in the regular season that year.

That also brings up yet another issue about the video and signals. If they played us in the regular season and were taping signals, they'd have had plenty of time to study them leading up to the big game. Who knows whether that happened or not, but it could have made all the difference.

    Here's my top 4.

2001 - lost in the Superbowl
    1999- won the Superbowl
1975-(12-2) Gave up the 2nd fewest points in the History of the NFL at that time. Boy would I like to have that defense now. Knocked out of the playoffs by the Dallas Cowboys.
1973- Traded away fan favorite Roman Gabriel and bring in John Hadl. Team goes (12-2) but is knocked out of the playoffs by the Dallas Cowboys.

Re: Which Rams team is the greatest of all time?

The '99 team made for perhaps the most fun I've had following the Rams and watching football, so for me it's probably them. I do however, have a fondness for those teams that played through the late 80's as they contained a lot of what remain my favourite players.

Kevin Greene, Henry Ellard, Jerry Gray, Tom Newberry, Alvin Wright etc.

Watching the Rams lose 30-3 to the whiners in the NFC championship game and the subsequent decline was hard to take.

    1.) 1999
    2.) 2001
3.) 2003- The Rams should've gone back to the SB that year.
