Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the St. Louis Rams will interview New York Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis for their head coaching vacancy in New York Monday, Jan. 9. The Giants are limiting the interview time to two hours. The Rams have no clear cut favorite for the job and are hoping Lewis will impress them enough to become the favorite for the job.

Tim Lewis was Just fired in Jan 2004 by the Steelers.

His last year in Pittsburgh they were 15th in Points allowed.
They fired Lewis and the very next season with the same personnel they were #1 in the NFL in Points allowed.
The players came out and pointed fingers at Lewis for not being aggressive enough and his scheme being too complicated.

I don't want Lewis, but you failed to mention that all 3 linebackers that started today weren't even starters in the beginning of the season. Injuries killed the Giants linebacking core late in the season. Just like the Gray argument, theres more to it than just the coach, it's the personnel also.

no.....this is the "rooney rule". In the NFL, if you have a coaching vacancy, you must, by rule interview at least one minority candidate. If not you are subject to severe penalties. The Lions were fined a significant sum for hiring Mariucci without first interviewing black candidates.

I'm aware of the rule, but I find it hard to believe that you seriously think Lewis is only being interviewed for that reason. In fact, Ron Rivera, who the Rams have already interviewed, is also deemed a "minority candidate."

With fast and aggressive players like Farrior and Bell on the inside, LeBeau is playing to this team’s strengths. Though it seems simple, it is notable because it is something that Tim Lewis was never able to do. A botched Tim Lewis plan was to make Kendrell Bell a pass rushing outside linebacker. LeBeau’s plan is much simpler - just blitz Bell from his normal position
