Rams think it would be Rice to have some insurance at DE?

ESPN is apparently reporting that the Rams will have Simeon Rice in next week for a look-see. Word is that Rice isn't quite healthy, but should be ready to go by the regular season.

If he's willing to sign a cap-friendly, incentive-laden contract, I'd be all for adding an established pass rush specialist.

I would like Simeon Rice for a cheap price tag. If he grabs 6-10 sacks he is worth it as a situational pass rusher. This is all a big if because he has to be healthy. Really you want to go into a season with 4 DE and we have 3 Little, Hall and Victor.

I don't know any specifics, but living near Tennessee, I hear a lot of Titans news. The Titans brought Rice in for a meeting with their team doctor this week (just to check his health out) and they said "no thanks" to him based on his physical. Take that for what its worth, but I heard it on the Titans radio station from a Texans insider named John McClain who writes for the Houston Chronicle. He has ties with the Titans due to their former Houston home.

Like I said his health is a big question mark, but the Titans have better depth at DE so they can be more choosy.

If he's healthy, and doesn't take up too much cap room, why not?

I'm all for this move.Besides it's not like he's going to be someone we are going to rely on every down, just another player to keep the pressure on when Hall or Little goes out.

Well that's just it, GC; I don't think that we actually have a #4 DE at this time. From what I've seen V. Adenayu is #3 and some are saying that Wroten could slide over and play DE in certain situations. Sometimes I wish we woulda taken Crowder or Abiramiri (SP?), the kid from Notre Dame, with our 2nd pick. This is not a shot at B. Leonard, it's just that I don't like all this uncertainty with the season opener right around the corner.

Interesting news, I haven't heard this one yet. It's all going to depend on what Rice wants. If he's healthy he'd make a nice rotational player, but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money. The fact that he's visited both New York and Tennessee but has left without contracts from either is intriguing.

The Titans have Kyle Vanden Bosch but little else, so I disagree about them having better depth. After finishing fourth to last in sacks last year, they need all the help they can get.

This is a precarous situation to say the least. Personally, I don't think Rice has much left, but picking him up on the cheap as others have noted would be fine with me.

Let someone else blow the money, he won't sign for cheap and he doesn't even consider playing run plays. He'll even take Play action plays off. He was good with talent around him. And if anyone good is cheap and healthy you'll probably end up taking them.....Jenkins, Rice...

I've now heard that local guys (Balzer, Karriker) are saying ESPN is wrong.

As long as it's just a one year deal I don't care what the price is, if the coaches like him then get him signed up. As long as he's healthy he'd make a great #3 DE for us.
