NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Camp Day 13/late report)

The boys were on their good behavior — relatively speaking — at Wednesday afternoon’s Rams-Titans practice. Only a couple of near-scuffles bubbled up, and they were quickly defused.

The morning session was a far different story. Tempers rose as quickly as the Tennessee heat, and several fights broke out. “That was ugly,” said one observer. “You have football fights, but those were like street fights.”

No damage was done, but certainly no love was lost between the two clubs.

“You almost expect that when two teams scrimmage against each other the first time,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. “We got that behind us, and we’ll have no more issues.”

The two teams will share practices again Thursday, at 8:15 a.m. (special teams only) and 3:30 p.m. at Baptist Sports Park. Both workouts are free and open to the public.

Notes & quotes:

>>RT Alex Barron stood out, both in team drills and one-on-one work.

>>Veteran WR Reche Caldwell is coming on after a uninspiring start to training camp.

>>G Jacob Bell did a nice job against his former Titans teammate, massive DT Albert Haynesworth.

>>Another Ex-Titan, WR Drew Bennett, received a few drewwwww cheers from the crowd.

>>C/G Nick Leckey, fighting an uphill battle for a roster spot, was impressive in one-on-ones vs. the Titans D-linemen.

>>Despite the heat, offensive coordinator Al Saunders, 61, ran back to the Rams hotel after the morning practice, a distance of about six miles.

>>DE Jevon “The Freak” Kearse is back with the Titans. But at 31, the 10-year vet doesn’t look so freaky anymore.

All for now . . . two more reports Thursday.
