Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
Also of note is that Robinson is only 23 years old (will turn 24 May 20th). That's younger than some rookies!

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
I am in favor of picking up players that fans like.

We have some young talent with the WRs now. I still wonder where Holt will land.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
Excellent news! This is a really good trade for us. I can't see that switching picks in the fifth and sixth rounds will have that big an impact of the type of player we'll receive and we get a player who could potentially start. Full credit to DeVaney for doing the business.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
Really a good move. We get a young receiver with NFL experience, at a position we need to beef up, at a low salary, and don't lose any picks. I'm liking this new front office.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
this move gets the thumbs up off me..we could very well select the same players with the new 5th & 6th spots than we would have in the old.
like EvilDiscoMan pointed out he`s basically the same age as a rookie but with 2 years in the NFL under his built..a much needed boost to our WR corps ..we still probably need another one..id say go for D.J Hackett whose still available and has played in the WCO..
anyway the deal for Laurent Robinson looks like a small price to pay for a chance of getting so much in return.
how sweet it is to have our ship sailing in good able hands...

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
Upon further review, he had injuries in college and the pros and he's known as somewhat of a fumbler. We shall see.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
I am a Falcons fan, and if you go to the Falcons message board, you might swear we just traded the next coming of Jerry Rice.
I don't think so, but here what I can tell you about Laurent Robinson.
In training camp last year, he was on pace to battle Michael Jenkins for our starting wide receiver spot before getting injured. In the previous season, he showed flashes of what kind of receiver he could become, but injuries slowed him down too.
This season, even if healthy, he probably wouldn't have been given a chance to play much due to Jenkins improving and Harry Douglas secure the #3 wr spot. (Roddy White is our star).
But, if healthy, it wouldn't surprise me if Robinson won the starting job opposite Donnie Avery for the Rams. He can be good enough to be a starter in this league.
Considering that was a need for your Rams, this is a smart move. He's also a bigger wide receiver which could be an assets in the red zone.
If healthy, I think you have a guy that should start and play well for the next 4-5 years.
So the trade was win win. You get a talented wide receiver, Falcons move up in both 5th and 6th rounds for a guy that wouldn't have seen the field much.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
I am very happy with this trade, particularly because as stated before we get a guy as young as a rookie with starting experience, do not lose any picks, and add talent and depth. It will be great watching him battle out the #2 spot with Burton.

I'm not so sure that the entire depth chart at WR isn't up for grabs. Who knows, this kid could end up as the primary WR.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
I like it. We're not going to have any big name wide receivers on this team, we're going to let Avery take that role for us.
We have such a young team, one of the top five youngest teams. I like this.
I hope Robinson plays a good role.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
It's hard to have anything negative to say about this trade, especially after the reactions I've read from Falcons fans. I'm still a little concerned about not having an established veteran after seeing the problems the young guys had last year with timing and route running, but I definitely think we're building a good foundation for the future. All in all a good move.

Re: Rams trade for Atlanta WR Laurent Robinson
I really like the pickup and like said earlier this guy could have a shot at being our number one. He is bigger than Avery, and almost as fast. The season he did play he had good numbers especially since he had no good QB. He's averaged over 11 ypc the past two years which I think is a big plus.
