Redskins press release:
For Immediate Release
April 20, 2010
REDSKINS MAKE TRADE WITH ST. LOUIS
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have acquired defensive end Adam Carriker, a fifth-round pick (No. 163 overall), and a seventh-round pick (No. 208 overall) from the St. Louis Rams in exchange for the Redskins’ fifth-round pick (No. 135) and seventh-round pick (No. 211 overall).
“Adam is a guy who our staff is very familiar with. He is talented and has an incredible work ethic,” Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. “We feel he will fit in our scheme and will help us reach our defensive goals.”
Carriker, 25, was originally a first-round selection (No. 13 overall) of the Rams in 2007. As a rookie, he started all 16 games and registered 30 tackles, two sacks and a safety. In 2008, Carriker (6-6, 296) played in 15 games, with nine starts, and recorded 22 tackles. Carriker was on Injured Reserve all of last season with a shoulder injury.
As a collegian at the University of Nebraska , Carriker played in 45 games with 34 starts. He was a two-time first-team All-Big XII performer, and as a senior, was a third-team All-American and the Big XIII Defensive Lineman of the Year. Carriker led the conference in sacks with 9.5 as a junior and his 20.5 sacks rank sixth in Cornhuskers history.

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
Using the trade value chart:
Moving from 163 to 135 is worth 12.3 points
The 211th pick is worth 7 points.
Carriker was worth 5.3 points OR the 23rd pick in the 7th round.
I think it's probably fair to say that without this trade, he was going to be cut.

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
Don't like the move, I'm not saying Carriker is great but I would like to give him a last chance. We got nothing in return, the 5th round is just to make the trade... He is injury prone but he was first round talent, we are already thin at DT. I will be happy with the move if we draft Suh with the 1st but I have few hope, Bradford will be the pick...
Si vous croyez en vous, que vous avez de la fierté, et que vous ne lâchez jamais, vous serez un gagnant.
Le prix de la victoire est chère, mais la récompense en vaut la peine.

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
It just seems like the Rams FO is trying to get rid of guys that were picked in 2006 and 2007
Its worth noting that from those two drafts, the only guys left on the Rams roster are Cliff Ryan, Mark Setterstrom and Victor Adeyanju. A fourth rounder, a fifth rounder and a seventh rounder from the two drafts.
And the way Adeyanju had trouble getting on the field last year, and with Setterstroms injury problems, it may end up being only Ryan by the start of the season

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
Why even make this deal? I would have preferred that we bring him to camp and see if he's got anything to offer. If he stayed healthy and made a contribution his trade value would only go up.
That's a much better way to go than what turns out to be another dadgum, friggin' fire sale.
Man it's tough being a Rams fan sometimes.
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
Making the deal moves us up 28 spots in the 5th round to have two top four 5th round picks which are much more trade able than the eagles pick was.

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
for his Rookie season because we had someone who could play LT better than RT already on the roster,in his Rookie season Smith was a better option than Barron at RT, whilst Barron was a better option at LT than Smith in Smith`s Rookie season.
Ogden was put in at Guard in his Rookie season...

Re: Rams trade Carriker to Skins
I don't think AC was a bust, but he wasn't "great" or an game-changer either. I feel we got a deal of value for him.
