Okay, how about a Chunky Soup commercial or two where Rams appeared?

The dreaded Chunky Soup curse haunted Kurt Warner back in 2000.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

:1: Other Rams that have been on TV or the movies?

"The Undefeated" (1969), starring John Wayne. A Western / post-civil war period movie. Among the 'guest stars', Merlin Olsen and Roman Gabriel.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

I think you could run an entire thread on Rams in movies and television.

Remember, merlin Olsen was father Murphy....and also did commercials for FTD florists.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

Yes, Alpha, we 'could' run an "entire thread" about Rams on TV and/or movies.

But there isn't one right now. I thought this quasi "acting" rememberance or acting wannabe efforts on the part of our Rams would fit nicely under the RAMS TRIVIA section, as sharing something we know. Yes? No?

I mean, trivia is trivial. I think...

A movie buff or TV programs "historian" I certainly am not. But I do enjoy reading a bit about some of the extracurricular activites of our Rams, i.e., TRIVIA, either as individuals or, of course, as the team we so love.

Now, speaking of Merlin Olsen (again, in terms of RAMS TV/MOVIE TRIVIA), from info that flows on the Web, he took part in:

"Aaron's Way" (1988) TV Series ... Aaron Miller

"Fathers and Sons" (1986) TV Series ... Buddy Landau

Time Bomb (1984) (TV) ... Jake Calahan

The Juggler of Notre Dame (1984) (TV) ... Jonas

"Father Murphy" (1981) TV Series ... John Michael Murphy

"Little House on the Prairie" ... Jonathan Garvey (1977-1981)

The Golden Moment: An Olympic Love Story (1980) (TV) ... Todd Simms

A Fire in the Sky (1978) (TV) ... Stan Webster

Mitchell (1975) .... Benton

"Kung Fu" - Nine Lives (1973) TV Epsd ... Perlee Skowrin

One More Train to Rob (1971) ... Eli Jones

Something Big (1971) ... Sgt. Fitzsimmons

"Petticoat Junction" - With This Ring (1970) TV Epsd ... Merlin Fergus

The Undefeated (1969) ... Cpl. Little George, CSA

Super Bowl XXIII (1989) (TV) .... Announcer
Super Bowl XX (1986) (TV) .... Announcer
Super Bowl XVII (1983) (TV) .... Announcer
Super Bowl XV (1981) (TV) .... Announcer

"CHiPs" ... aka CHiPs Patrol - The Great 5K Star Race and Boulder Wrap Party: Part 2 (1980) TV Episode (uncredited) .... Himself

Super Bowl XIII (1979) (TV) .... Announcer

"The Hollywood Palace"
- Episode #5.17 (1968) TV Epsd (as The Fearsome Foursome) ... Himself - Singer
- Episode #5.11 (1967) TV Epsd (as The Fearsome Foursome) ... Himself - Singer

PS: Alpha, if you prefer, I'll stop posting on this particular topic, specifically, TV/movie RAMreferences. No problem.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

Found this in the African American Registry.

Paul "Tank" Younger, Rams RB/LB.

After college [1949], he wasn't drafted to play professionally and was labeled a 500:1 shot to make it in the pros. He became a free agent, signed with the Rams, and opened the door to a new talent source, becoming the first player in the NFL from a "Black college" [Grambling].

Had a very successful NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams ... earning Pro Bowl status five times. He became the first Black player to play in an NFL All-Star Game, and after his playing days, went on to become the league's first Black assistant general manager in 1975.

Oh, don't get me wrong...I wasn't trying to run you out of the thread. I was simply making the case that so many Rams have been in TV and the movies that it could be a thread of it's very own. Please do not stop posting TV, movie, etc. material...it certainly is Rams trivia.

Thanks! I appreciate that! I started this thread to solicit Rams trivia from everybody...I figure everyone knows something that they can share. I also appreciate your contributions to the thread as I am learning many things from you, as well.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

Alpha, you again beat me to it, reply No. 100 that is!

Vilnis Ezerins, RB for the Rams was the 1st non-US citizen drafted in team history (1966). He apparently did not play until 1968, mostly on Special Teams and as a blocking back. He was/is from Latvia.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

Isaac Bruce scored the first TD for the Rams as a St Louis team against the Packers. In fact, Bruce also blocked a kick that game.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

Night Tain Lane had to bail Tank Younger out of jail in 1953. Tank was being lectured by his mother-in-law about the evils of gambling for the umpteenth time and he finally slapped her face.

Re: Rams Trivia - Share What You Know

The 2000 Rams ended up with 540 points on the season, and were held under 20 points only once (this game was Warner's first game back after the hand injury). Had he remained healthy, Kurt Warner was on pace to throw for over 5000 yards and 50+ TDs, and the team as a whole would have scored in excess of 570 points.
