Rank the worst Rams recent personnel moves...

I dont know how to post a poll, but rank these moves. Top of the list is the worst move.

    1) Passing on ryan khalil to take brian leonard
    2) Trading cutler for hill and wroten
    3) Waiving hedgecock
    4) drafting klop and byrd
    5) paying 30 million for drew bennett
    6) Letting ryan pickett walk away

In the category of how did we get so bad, this is certainly not an all encompassing list, but its a heck of a start.

Losing ike was at the top of my list emotionally of course, but i dont think you can say that move is killing us, given the emergence of avery. It certainly was terrible karma letting him go, but i was trying to focus on the impact guys. You are of course correct jorge that we NEVER should have let ike go. I should have put letting martz go on the list as well and i am sure plenty of people (with short memories) will mention letting warner go.

That list sums it up for me along with never resigning London Fletcher, but that may be too long ago for your list of recent screw-ups...

    Roger that GC, I understand.

Tough choices for they were tough losses. For now, my friend Hitman Hedgecock is at the top:

    1) Waiving Hedgecock
    2)
    3)
    4)
    5)
    6)

Does SFC's name qualify? Fletcher was also such a terrible substraction from the Rams roster!

    5) paying 30 million for drew bennett
    4) drafting klop and byrd

    6) Letting ryan pickett walk away
    3) Waiving hedgecock

Those are my rankings, worst to least worst. In fairness to the Leonard pick, Kalil has been injured his first two seasons in the NFL and hasn't exactly played amazing. He has played well, but he is missing a lot of time. Still was a bad move..obviously. And we wouldn't have taken Cutler in the 11 spot anyway and probably drafted Ngata instead, which you could argue is worse. But again, how do we know? Funny how all these moves came under Linny.

I agree, letting Fletcher go was the start of the downfall on defense. And then just a compound of poor acquisitions on defense ala Kim Herring, Jason Sehorn, Chris Claiborn, the list can be long of those who we thought would come in be impact players and turned out to be just terrible!

What about hiring Linehan? i think that was a pretty massive bad move that helped result in some of those other bad moves.

Well I hate to say it but it looks like signing Jacob Bell to a big contract may not have been a very smart move.

The top 2 would've made a big improvement to our running game. That 30 million could have been used more usefully. Cutler would of been a good succesor to Bulger. Klop and Byrd would still be gone since we did get McMichael. Pickett would have been nice to keep but I have faith C. Ryan.

How about passing on Eric Wright to take Brian Leonard? I was hoping to get Wright all along but the front office was content with our db's I guess. Also was Cutler even an option for us at the time we made that trade? I hate people bringing that up like we were actually thinking of taking him. We wouldnt have taken Cutler if we didnt make the trade so stop it already. Look around the league Fox showed everyone watching that game how inept our front office is. Picket,Lewis,Fletcher,Bruce,Chillar,Curtis,Manumaleuna, and St Clair all able to go to other teams and not only contribute but start. There goes our depth right there. Our o-line and d-line suck and why Greco and Schuening arent getting a chance is still baffeling me.

Losing Hedgecock was the worst move of that list. No doubt about it.

**Smirk** C. Wroten, a 3rd rounder in '06 ... to think he is still lingering in the Rams roster!

My updated list of worse blunders in personnel moves, recent years:
    1) Waiving Hedgecock
    2) Paying 30 million for Drew Bennett
    3) Losing Fletcher (sorry, can't get over that one)
    4) [Scanning, scanning...]
    5) Drafting Klop and Byrd
    6) Letting Ryan Pickett walk away
    [7) SL ... Rams HC]

Re: Rank the worst Rams recent personnel moves...

Not being aggressive in re-upping Chillar was a real boneheaded move. He had a good season last year and was the only LB on the roster with some size and strength. Chillar, after 2 rather average seasons, definitely started getting it last year and Rams FO let him get away. Similar to Pickett....they didn't see the present or potential value and had no suitable replacement in mind at all.

Klop, Byrd, Leonard....ugh. Bennett a disaster. Drafting. FA signings. It would be easier to list what the Rams have done RIGHT in the last several years than all the screw ups.
