Rare brain condition won’t affect Looker’s career
By Bill Coats
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Veteran wide receiver Dane Looker, who has been on a medical roller-coaster for a couple of weeks, finally got a diagnosis for the abnormality that was discovered in his brain. Looker has a rare condition — only 150 cases known worldwide, according to his doctor — called a dolichoectatic artery in his brain.
Basically, it’s an artery that is slightly larger and longer than normal. It doesn’t affect Looker’s football career, although he’ll have to undergo regular MRI exams for the rest of his life to make sure that the condition isn’t worsening.
“It’s just a random thing,” Looker explained. “The chances of anything negative happening to me for the rest of my life are very slim.”

Notes & quotes:
*Adam Goldberg filled in at LT Wednesday for Orlando Pace, who has a strained thigh muscle. Haslett still is calling Pace “questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
*Rookie WR Keenan Burton, recovering from knee surgery, was full-go at practice and will be among the 45 actives Sunday, coach Jim Haslett said.
*S Oshiomogho Atogwe has been named the NFC’s defensive player of the week. Atogwe returned a fumble 75 yards for the Rams’ only touchdown in their 19-17 victory at Washington. He also had seven tackles and forced a fumble.
*CB Tye Hill (knee) jogged on the sideline while his teammates practiced.
*Fakhir Brown was back on the field. He will start at CB Sunday.
*QB Marc Bulger, who jammed the index finger on his right hand vs. the Redskins, threw without difficulty.
All for now . . .

That's great news about Looker. He is rare, but good to go. Nice.

I am not going to post links, as everyone can google, but this is and will be a serious issue for Dane.
Thank you for keeping us updated, but truth be told, this is not good news for Dane.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Rare brain condition won’t affect Looker’s career
I have a condition that must be checked out every once in a while. And let me tell you, it sucks. It is sitting there ALWAYS in the back of your head. It affects your life.
I hope that Dane is able to put that aside and play football. However, anything that needs checking like that on a regular basis can wear you down. Although I'm glad that it isn't something that is a problem right now.
Good luck Dane
