    Re-Re Grade the decision

Several weeks ago I asked you all if the Rams made the right decision in hiring Linehan, and I asked you grade their choice. We are now over 1/2 way until the kick-off 2006, how do you feel now??

Here are your response after the hiring of a O-Cord and D-Cord. What do you think after free agent pick-ups and now the draft.

    Re-grade the decision
    A 4 10.81%
    A- 15 40.54%
    B 12 32.43%
    B- 5 13.51%
    C 1 2.70%
    C- 0 0%

A-. Hard to argue with what he has done at this point. Now it's time to put it all together and make it work.

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

at the start of the interviewing process my favourites were Ron Rivera (get that D sorted out) ,former Ram 1st Round draft pick NO not Larry Phillips;Jerry Gray and the longshot vote;former co-ordinator/coach Jeff Fisher!

When feedback from the interview came thro and they were saying that Linehan stated about the overall team needs rather than just the O,i thought this guy if for real could be the answer!
when he was taken on and hired Jim Haslett i was glad that he beat out Rivera, Gray and "Fisher",overall i think we have the best we could have got with Linehan & Haslett!

I loved his first wave of FA pick ups-Witherspoon,Glover and Chavous in particular!

would have picked someone else with our 1st round pick(Hill is great but once Huff was taken i looked elsewhere rather than addressing the DB`s with first pick!)
overall tho and especially if you think we got Hill and Wroten then it was a stroke of genius, only time will tell but the rest of the draft seemed to go well with us filling must of our needs with good value picks!

I gave him an A- i gave that high a grade not solely with the forthcoming season in mind but also the seasons after!

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

I'd give him a B at this point, but then I have really high standards. He's done a lot to improve team depth, but I think the jury is still out on some important issues: 1) are Glover and Chavous reaches or good FA pickups?, 2) can improved depth translate into better play on the field?, and 3) will the new coaching staff change some of the obvious problems with technique and effort (on the defensive side of the ball) and will that translate into better play on the field?.

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

I like what he's done so far (gave him an A), and that's about all I can say. So far, there is no empiracal data to support one way or the other. But my gut says he's done a fine job. I'm glad he's a Ram.

He's following the coach who is responsible for the only moments of success this team has had since the late 80's, so expectations will be high for him. And one thing Rams fans have lost over the past 6 years is patience, so those expectations better be met quickly or Linehan's honeymoon will come to a screeching halt.

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

I gave him a C-. I'm not sold on Tye Hill, I thought a pass rushing defensive end would have been a much better choice. Also, two TE's in the draft doesn't make much sense to me.

However, what do I know? I had Barbero to show Saturday.

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

Don't remember what I gave him first time thru, but this time a B-.

I didn't like the fact that we hired a non-proven head coach, but considering what was available...

The draft was ok, but drafting 2 TEs and that jack of all trades QB, seemed to be dufus or wasted pics.

He certainly talks the talk, and that is a plus.

And, he has made moves to address needs, but so did Martz, and they still weren't fixed. What if Witherspoon turns into Duncan? Wroten could be another bust in a long line of busts or mediocre performers... time will tell.

I still don't see a lot to be really excited about, cept that Marmie is gone, and we got a better back up QB. At best I'm only expecting an 8-8 year.

    Re: Re-Re Grade the decision

I gave him a progress report of B (would have given B+ if available). Didn't like his choice of offensive coordinator. I'm optimistically cautious to see how all this shake up pans out come preseason. He hasn't met any real adversity yet...so I would like to see how he reacts under pressure.
