    A Reality Check

Well, the bubble certainly burst on the good feelings from the Washington game. It comes with a dose of reality that we still have tremendous work to do. The problems we've discussed time and again here on the forum came home to roost today.

It all starts up front, where we showed our linemen are incapable of handling a solid pass rush. 6 sacks allowed. Not good enough to win. Bradford was under duress all day and was not nearly as sharp nor as deft at avoiding trouble as he was vs. the 'Skins. The interception broke our back. And other than Amendola, we once again showed we have a bunch of substitute teachers out there at wide receiver, incapable of anything more than the occasional catch or two. Gibson dropped a deep ball right in his hands early in the contest. Who knows if that could have affected things differently with an early score.

Chris Long had 2 sacks, Laurinaitis had 11 solo tackles and Zeurlein had the 56 yard field goal. The defense played well enough to win. Other than that, not too many big positives to speak of. Disappointing.

I like how the Rams played. Shame about the O Line for the Rams, that was our big big weak point and it showed in this game.

one thing to really easily help, quit running into the punter/kicker/quarterback after the ball has been long gone

Nice post NJ. Agreed on all points. Missed opportunities, not taking advantage of a pretty good defensive showing (giving up only one TD depite being on the field most of the game), and some stupid mistakes hurt, but the mismatch between the Chicago DL and our OL was the big difference.

I would like it if the reality check came back "insufficient funds"...
