Re: Which "regular" name might make the cut

The answer to the question in my opinion is not one of the choices. It is sean landetta, who is no longer a viable option. The kid we signed will have every opportunity to beat him out.

Of the choices listed, I vote Moran. he has no upside and he is unlikely to contribute on special teams. I think shane walton is on the bubble (ie lucas vs. walton), not coady, since he is the legit backup to archuleta, given his strength in run support. Of course, injuries could change all of this.

I dont think coleman makes it over furrey, but furrey could be in trouble if the kick returner we just signed looks really fantastic.

Rich Coady will be the odd man out. Too many young safeties with plenty of upside. He was picked up out a neccessity last year. Unless he has a lights out camp, he's gone.

I'd say Moran may be the odd man out. I was really surprised the Rams even signed him.

For everyone saying Moran and that the Rams have too many bodies on the defensive line, why then would the Rams try to sign Marcus Bell? It would seem to me that if the Rams felt they had too many defensive linemen, they wouldn't be trying to get another off waivers.

Perhaps, though Bell is a DT, while Moran is primarily a DE.

I think it still goes to show that, if anything, the Rams want more players for the D-line rather than fewer.

They have six defensive ends on the roster right now, right? That might seem like a lot, but keep in mind there will be a rotation at the right defensive end spot. What happens if Little goes down with an injury like last season? Then we have five ends, and the only clear-cut starter is down. The rotation would be on both sides, and we'd benefit from extra bodies.

I dunno, I just don't think Moran gets cut.

You may be right, Nick, but I think this is the Rams answer to every question in the lineup. If you have a wide open position, like the RDE, throw as many options as you can at it and see which one sticks. I just don't think Moran is the one that is going to stick.

I think Arlen Harris might be gone because Mike Martz thinks he can make a QB a safety....

Arlen Harris is not a FB, nor will trying to make him one change that. If they keep this guy, it is at RB, and over Gordon, which is possible, but at FB...no way.

The switch from RB to FB is a little less difficult than from QB to safety, wouldn't you say?

Which is why he received a one year deal. I think he provides valuable depth in the event of injury. I doubt he's released.

And the winner is, Shane Walton. No winners.

But could you technically classify Walton a "regular"?

    He really didn't play much.....
