Re: Report: Rams to Release Claiborne

It all starts now! Looks like the honeymoon is over. Most of us liked the new coaching staff that Linehan has assembled. I said most not all. But as soon as they start making changes in the roster there is sure to be a fall out with some of the fans. Some will not like Linehan before we play our first preseason game. I for one am looking forward too more change on this roster. We looked like a high school team on defense at times last year, it was sad. We are not going to get better by making no changes, I have read there maybe as many as 5 new starters on our D, and hes the first.

Perhaps they believe a more favorable cost-to-value ratio can be achieved by looking elsewhere. I believe Claiborne was a 5-year deal for about 14 mil.? In return for not much.

I'm not really mad about this anymore. I just am going to like having a D that tackles, gets turnovers, and is top 15.

That kind of money should have been more effective, eh?

Probably, I'm sure. But with needs at two different LB positions like the Rams had last year, I think the best choice was the one they made - try to maximize their additions by spending less on second tier players.

i agree with Nick, 3 yrs 10.5 million seemed like a bargain at the time...it's just too bad it never worked out.

Thats a pretty good amount of savings. I wonder how much of a hit it would have been to cut Coakley.

You have to remember that Coakley also plays special teams, which i don't think Claiborne did.

I personally don't think he was given mcuh of a chance, but this leads me to think the Rams will draft Abdul Hodge with their second rounder

What makes you think Hodge will be there in the 2nd Round? Would we trade uP?

As it stands at the moment D'Qwell Jackson is the top MLB, but he is only looking to be taken early in the second, to the Titans at pick 35. The Rams have th 43rd pick, and it is possible Hodge could fall to their. However the Rams may have to jump over Arizona who have pick 42

A guy I like at MLB who could be there in Round 2 is Kai Parham from Virginia.

Parham is likely to be there when the Rams pick, and i would like to see how he does at the combine. He is 6'3, 250 lbs. so he is a pretty big guy. He would be a good 3-4 ILB as well as a decent 4-3 MLB. I just want to see how quick and agile he is.
