Report: SJAX want's new contract, may be traded!
" NFL Network's Mike Lombardi stated on Monday's B.S. Report with Bill Simmons that Steven Jackson wants a new contract.S-Jax has base salaries of $7 million in 2012 and 2013. "The problem with Steven Jackson is he wants to redo his contract," Lombardi said. "He's not happy where he is. ... I would suspect that the Rams would (draft) the running back as quickly as they could." He was referring to Trent Richardson. Lombardi indicates that the Vikings are trying to bait the Rams to trade up to No. 3 to get Richardson. S-Jax, meanwhile, looks like a candidate to be traded on draft weekend. "
Something I never, ever, ever, wanted to read. I hope he does get a new contract at 4 mill a year for 4 yrs, other than that, I hope the rest is B.S.Last edited by sosa39rams; -04-23-2012 at 04:08 PM.

I'm skeptical that this report is accurate. It does not make sense.

Re: Report: SJAX want's new contract, may be traded!
If the Rams can draft Richardson, I wouldn't be against the idea of trading SJ39. I believe it would be the best thing for both parties going forward. Jackson can join a contender, and hopefully go out with a bang. The Rams get a brute of a RB to replace him, who will be a staple for`the Rams offense for the next ten years.
I don't like the idea of trading up though. But, if that what it takes, then so be it.?

What would Jackson be worth if he were to be traded? Anyone care to venture a guess??

It says in the report itself that it's B.S.

Re: Report: SJAX want's new contract, may be traded!
Let's think this through. After trading down to set themselves up to have multiple premium picks in the next three drafts, the Rams are going now give their bounty (or a substantial portion of it) to the Vikings so they can upgrade the RB spot - the only spot where they have a Pro Bowl player?!?!?!
And... on top of that, they will trade Jackson for a 3rd or 4th round pick?
I'm not buying it.

I'd like to see verification from Jackson. Doesn't make sense. He makes $7 million base and he turns 29 in July. He's not getting that anywhere else.

Here's Bernie's response to this (via Twitter)
So... when Rotoworld quoted Bill Simmons who was quoting Michael Lombardi, was Michael Lombardi quoting Steven Jackson, or merely quoting someone who provided a quote based upon a quote from Steven Jackson, or was he really quoting Steven Jackson when he quoted Steven Jackson?Heck if I know. Unless I hear it from Jackson himself I'm skeptical.

Except he's not a free agent until he turns 31. Any contract he would sign would be just as likely to get him cut as one with the Rams. The Franchise Tag price is $7.7 million and I guarantee you Jackson is getting more than $700k in incentives and bonus money. I'm not buying any of this.

Wow. Jax for a 4th. We'll all be cryin' come December if that happens ... Trent or not.
If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.
