The Richie Incognito Questions
Incognito was tendered a one-year deal as a RFA. If another team signs him to an offer sheet, the Rams can either (1) match or (2) let him go and receive a 3rd round pick as compensation.
Two-part question:
Do you think he'll be signed to an offer sheet?
and
If he is, should the Rams match?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
i like cogs, but with greco up and coming, and bell playing well towards the end of last year, id rather him play on the one year tender and see how he does there, lets see what happens with bell (whether he really does make the switch to OT or not) before we make a decision on richie

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
He won't be signed by another team hopefully. If that's the case, get him locked long term, but get most of the contract at the end of it so say after next year his attitude hasn't changed, we can dump him and take a smaller hit.
He's an animal though, exactly what our line needs.RamsFan16

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I don't think he'll be signed by another team. If he is, I don't think the Rams should match. A 3rd round pick is pretty darn good really, Richie's been inconsistent, and hopefully Greco could step in and take his place pretty easily.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I voted "he'll be signed - match", but may have voted too quickly.
I like him, and think he's an above average to very good lineman, and think that his reputation is way overblown.
Having said that however, he probably won't be signed due to his rep, (warranted or not), and therefore, I like the "him playing for the one year tender, as in a 'now or never, dude' scenario."
To be honest, my hopes are kinda' dwindling, as he doesn't seem to have "outgrown" his tendencies.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
Not comfortable predicting what 31 other teams may do... but if I were Devaney and Cog got an offer, i'd be really tempted to let him go for the extra 3rd round pick and give the nod to Greco. Hey, if you're gonna rebuild... rebuild with character is what they said right!? But that's because i saw a lot of good in Greco's limited action. Scheuning's arrow is pointing up as well.
but i won't fault the Rams for matching if its a fair offer. Cog's matches perfectly for the power running the Rams would like to employ... and its better to get him locked up long term now... rather than pull a "Ron Bartell" and wait until after he has a breakout year to lock him up.
its a good question AV. wish i had a better answer for you, but a lot of it will rest upon who the Rams have their sights on with the potential extra 3rd round pick and the offer itself. Plus Cog's is relatively young. While i would be tempted to use the extra pick to help the rebuild, i predict the Rams would take a different approach and have big plans to use Cog's fire to blaze some holes for SJ. if anybody can focus Cog's emotional instability... its Spags.
I see valid arguments for both sides. cheers billy, here's where you make your dime.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I hope he gets signed to an offer sheet, so we can get the 3rd round pick.
But i doubt it will happen.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I voted "hopefully" he won't be signed and let him play with the 1 year tender.
I love COGS aggressive attitude on the field. His discipline is what is lacking. I'd like to see him play at least one season under the new regime and see if that can reel him in. If it doesn't work out then cut him loose.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
OOOOHHHHH, the "will he be signed" question. I thought you were going to ask the "will he ever learn how to control himself" question.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
He won't be signed and he will play under a tender. If we run the ball as much as we are going to Cogs should excel and will be a perfect fit. If he doesn't use his head and doesn't excel you let him go instead of resigning him.

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I have a feeling that he'll end up wearing the horns again because no one else will make an offer. He's known for being hot headed, and I don't think many will want to put up with that.
As far as being a calmer lineman this season, I have a feeling Spags will end up keeping Richie on a very short leash, with one of those pinch training collars on the end. Every time he begins to get out of line, one tug will remind him where the line is at so he doesn't cross it.Super Bowl Champions 2013!

Re: The Richie Incognito Questions
I just think that the Rams OL would be better with him than without him. We don't have anyone else with experience.
