The St. Louis Rams and left tackle Rodger Saffold dodged a huge bullet on Sunday. X-Rays on Saffold's neck came back negative. He likely suffered just a neck sprain, according to reports.
Saffold had a precautionary MRI, and he did not show signs of a more serious injury. Reports from the Rams locker room after the game said that Saffold was moving his limbs and that the team was encouraged by early signs from the starting left tackle.
The third-year offensive tackle was pushed into the back of another player on a third quarter play, one that resulted in a touchdown. He hit his neck on the other player and went down to the field. Trainers had to put him in a body brace and cart him off the field following the play.

It is unclear how much time Saffold could miss. Wayne Hunter replaced him on the left side after the injury.

Fingers crossed.
Man, it looked like he was committing a massive hold at the time!
LOL!!
Re: Roger Saffold injury : X-Rays negative
Thank God, hopefully he doesn't miss too much time. Wouldn't mind if the Rams kicked the tires on Jeff Otah.

Watching a player get carted off the field strapped to a stretcher is always scary, so it's great to hear it's only a strain. The sooner he gets back the better. Hunter protecting Bradfords blindside is another scary thought.

Great news! Hopefully he'll be back on the field sooner rather than later.

Agree completely with all of that. During the time of his fall and being carted off i feared the worst, luckily it might not be as bad as if he had sprained his ankle. Im hoping for a quick, but full recovery. I have a feeling Fisher might break his streak and draft a tackle in the 1st round for once. At this point i wouldnt mind using a 1st and a 2nd on the O-Line next year.

Good news, but I'll bet he is still out a few weeks, which is not good.

Yes, most likely. :disapointed:

Glad he's going to be OK because that looked really scary the way he just went down in a heap suddenly and of course the precautionary stretcher ride off the field. I didn't think about who was going to replace him as much as if Saffold would be able to walk again. Great news that it's not as serious as it looked.

Nah he wasn't, the guy tried to spin him, that's how it ended up like that. If you wanna see holding though, just look at Chris Long for any snap he played against the Lions
Re: Roger Saffold injury : X-Rays negative
Great news. PHEWoo. The Rams could ill afford to lose Saffold at this point in the season. It would have been akin to losing Amendola first game last year. Massive break for the Rams. No pun intended.:helmet:

Howdy,
Lions fan checking in from MotownSports.com.
I came specifically looking for news on this guy and I'm very glad to hear that it appears he's going to be okay.
It was just surreal seeing that play... In a way it kinda reminded by the Dale E death. It just didn't look like it should have been a major thing, but then here's this guy on the ground and not getting up. Well, as I said, very happy to hear things are looking positive.
